Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Desiree Cabrera @desired_tastes

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m Desiree and I was born and raised in New Jersey. My family is originally from the Philippines and that had a big impact on my love for food. I currently work in the medical field, but my passions for food and travel were hard to ignore. I really want to see the world and experience all the different food scenes. I’m always looking forward to my next trip.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

It’s all about food and travel! I enjoy posting delicious pics of various dishes and food trends. I also post photos of my travels around the world. It is such a great way to share my passions and connect with people.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Whenever I’m traveling to a new city or country, food is what I desire most! I want to try the local cuisine, eat unique dishes, and dine at the top restaurants.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I’m a big fan of Snapseed. The majority of my photos are taken with my Samsung Galaxy. Snapseed is a great way to easily edit and save your photos.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I’m a big fan of the local and NYC instagrammers. There are so many beautiful travel photos and yummy food pics on my feed. It’s so hard to choose! I also enjoy following all my favorite chefs as well. I love following the travels of @drewbinsky and I can’t get enough of @omakase incredible sushi pics. I love sushi!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

I had the most amazing pad thai during my trip in Thailand recently. The restaurant is called Thip Samai in Bangkok. I’m finally able to understand why they’re so popular. Their orange juice is amazing too!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

It’s a lot of fun! You get to help various brands, restaurants, and companies by posting photos and working with great people.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Keep it simple and make it easy for consumers to understand the concept of your brand. You want to be very receptive of feedback to make improvements and changes. Authenticity can be maintained by planning ahead to know exactly how and when you’ll be running the campaign. Don’t do it on a whim and time it accordingly.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

You definitely want your photos to be top quality and always stay consistent with how often you post. Create a unique style that works for you. Don’t be afraid to use photo editing programs. Keep your followers engaged with great photos of mouth watering food and beautiful scenes from your travels. Don’t be so serious about it. Keep it fun!

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Having the opportunity to discover new brands and products is really cool. There are so many awesome brands out there that provide great products and services I never knew about. It keeps me in the loop and I always can’t wait to share it with others!
