1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
My stage name is K. Wize, and I am a Hip-Hop artist from Norfolk, Virginia. I am currently in the creation process for my fourth solo project titled, “Poetic Tissue”, and simultaneously working on a preceding EP titled, “Church EP”. I am also searching for talent to expand my team around. (i.e. female emcee, female vocalist, male vocalist, sound engineer).
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
I like to focus on social issues for the most part, and then life experiences; sometimes it’s just flashy wordplay, but I like to stay poetic. I like for my music to evoke emotions, but also have a vibe that you can just sit back and chill with. My instagram posts mainly show my family, but I also post video clips of records that I’m working on, or snippets of verses that I’m writing.
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
I got my instagram name basically from my stage name. I just added the 100 at the end so whenever I do make it big, people will know that’s the official page for K. Wize.
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
I just use either my phone camera app, or the instagram app to edit photos. I like to make my photos a little brighter at times, or black and white. Other than that, I don’t really play around with the filters and edits too much. Usually I keep the photo natural because I like people to see what’s real from me.
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
I can’t think of any individual profiles but I do like artist pages. Any type of art; I enjoy seeing how creative people are. I like pages that show a lot of professionally shot photos and videos. I like to see quality.
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
Try my music!…I could go down a list really; like putting teriyaki and sweet-chili sauce on your food to season it; or something that you might think is a little out-of-line, but try tasting breast milk. You’d be surprised how good it is!
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
People actually gravitate towards you and believe in what you’re saying and doing. Having people share your thoughts and quote words from your lyrics is something special. It feels good to be believed in by people you may not even know personally.
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
You have to be persistent and consistent. Believe you offer the best but remain humble. Never forget the fans. Never forget home. Never go back on your word.
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
Quality will always be respected. I put respect over anything and in turn quality over everything. It may not be what’s hot right now but it’s still great. I’d rather be great forever than hot for a moment. Original content is a tricky one because as cliche’ as it is, great artists steal great ideas. It’s tough to be original because so much music today, is replicated and built from older styles of music; down to the drum rhythms, however, it is important to be your own artist and create your own ideas, and/or take a creation or idea and build a better creation from it. The key for me is reinvention.
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
Just the networking in general is a positive. It’s imperative to build the right relationships in this realm. A lot of it is who you know. Some people can get you into some different circles and situations that can take your career to that next level. It also allows you to get visions and ideas from a variety of minds, and that will open your mind up to some things that you might not be aware of. You can’t beat gaining wisdom.
