Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Angel Moreno @Angellovelikexo

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m a smalltown boy from the south who loves being different! I’ve always been a dreamer and up untill a couple years ago, I didn’t have the confidence or self esteem to allow myself to be the best ‘me’ I could be. I’m all about self love and empowerment! I’m currently enrolled in an esthetician program at a prestigious hollistic school (Aveda) and their vision and goal resonates with my being whole heartedly. What you put out into the world makes a difference. I’m trying to make people realize that it is okay to be selfish every now and then to get pampered and put their needs before anyone else’s.

I used to go through life without a purpose, although I had an over whelming amount of confidence, however I had not one drop of self esteem. It wasn’t until I started dabbling in makeup that I gained what I pride myself most on. My self esteem. As soon as I started getting better, people would compliment me and it would mean the world to me. I thought to myself, I finally found the one thing I’m good at.. I can’t let anyone take this away from me or tell me that I can’t do something with this because I know i can.

Anything is possible, the drive to do better for yourself is all you need.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I post about my esthetician journey, my makeup.. I tried to start a YouTube channel, but life happened. I have one video, but yeah.. hopefully my editing skills will improve. (Lol)

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I’m not really creative when it comes to handles, I had several names before Angellovelikexo.. but if we’re being honest.. Beyonce. The song XO. She wrote the song to show her condolences for the families affected by the Challenger disaster. She wanted to remind us that unexpected things happen all the time. With that said, we should love and appreciate the time we have with the ones who mean the most to us. Even ourselves.
Angellovelikexo . It’s more than a catchy handle. It has meaning behind it.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I love face tune. I feel basic for saying so. But it’s really an awesome app! I try not to over edit anything. I don’t want to look pixelated and over softened that I end up looking like I just have nostrils instead of a nose. But when I’m having a break out I soften my face a bit. I like to darken my lashes because my actual lashes are so short and annoying that they really don’t blend well with my strip lashes. Then I touch up the details on the focal points on my face. And adjust the lightning. Voila! Then post.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

Of course! I love Kim Thai (@kkimthai), Thomas Halbert (@thomashalbert) , Patrick Simondac (@patrickstarrr).

Kim inspires me because she’s a beautiful soul. She’s so big on body positivity and she’s so humble. I love that about her. She’s gorgeous too!

Thomas Halbert is so creative, his eccentric style is so quirky and I love it. He posts every now and then about his weight loss journey and it motivates me to keep shedding some pounds as well. He looks phenomenal.

I honestly didn’t even know who Patrick Star was until January of 2015. I got my first job at Ulta and a coworker told me I reminded her so much of Patrick Star. To be honest, I thought she meant Spongebob’s BFF at first. BUT she showed me his instagram and YouTube and I became hooked! His Cinderella story resonated with me so deeply. I always think to myself. “He was going through the motions of life. He never thought he’d be where he’s at now. Maybe if I dream hard and work harder, I could surprise myself too.”

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Making yourself happy! I know a lot of people who live to impres others and make others happy for the sake of not creating conflict, but inside they’re miserable. If you do something at least once a day that will make you truly happy with yourself. Then go for it! Be YOU unapologetically! I don’t mean to be a jerk and not apologize. Just do what makes you most happy. It’ll change your world. I promise.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I love helping people! In high school, a friend wrote their essay about me and it dawned on me that.. people are noticing me and are admiring how true to myself and caring I was. It was the best compliment I could ever receive. So if I can share my story and through that help others get through hardships or even entertain someone and make them smile, it’s really what keeps me going.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I think brands should really try to reach out to people who are genuine and really want the best for the world. However, I know that’s hard to do and time consuming. There could be interviews like the one I’m doing now to find out why and what their intentions are. Not so much get them on their PR list. But give the chance to have a part in their brand. Authenticity is probably always going to be questioned. But to maintain it really depends on your content. If you show how true you are and don’t just wave with the crowd, people will have more of an authentic feel.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Put out into the world what you would like to see. Great quality. Every time. Don’t do it for your followers, do it for yourself. Push yourself to do better and be better. Time is linear and it will not wait for you. Imitation is flattering when credit is given. But Originality is where you shine by yourself. Of course great minds think alike. But always try to out do yourself. You never know, you may surprise yourself.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

The opportunity! Such a pageant queen answer. But it’s true! Getting your foot in the door with a brand is an awesome experience . It may be an affiliate code or maybe even a collaboration. But it’s all going to be an experience for sure.
