Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Zy Williams @zykwanza

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I was born in Tallahassee, Fl but have traveled all throughout the United States and different parts of the world. Being that I am a "military brat" I’m not really from anywhere. Currently, I reside in Charlotte, NC where I graduated UNCC-Charlotte almost 5 years ago. About a year after graduating with a B.S. in Biology I found my true passion. Yes, a tad bit too late, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I currently design and create handmade attire for men and women.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

Fashion, Music, and Style. I mostly post pictures of items that I have made, sales happening on my website www.zykwanza.com, or any custom designs I created for clients. Every now and again you may see a personal picture of myself, but I typically only like to post myself when I’m laced in a design by yours truly.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Easy, it’s my first name. I was looking for something unique to name my clothing line, and everything I could think of was taking or would not be comprehended easily. Once I realized my name was the most unique idea – I ran with it.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I’m not into editing photos as much as I once was. Most of my pictures are done professionally so I leave the editing to the professionals. However, if I post a personal pic I simply use what instagram has to offer. My favorites to toy with are contrast, brightness, then add a teeny bit of saturation and lastly highlights or shadows.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

Heavily stalk Badgalriri, Kylie Jenner, India love, Draya Michelle, Teyana Taylor, and just because his music is heaven, Drake. I’d say Drake inspires me the most because I feel he is very strategic about what he posts. Posts Matter ! I’m queen of post and delete lol. On the other hand, i love to see Kylie Jenner and what new look she may have or what she’s wearing. Her style is everything, never disappointed.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

one of my custom pieces ! I’ve not had one complaint yet and everyone always seem so much more confident in one of my designs. Truly a beautiful feeling.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

The reaction and love received from the influenced. It’s always great to see someone like your stuff so much they copy the look!

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Gain as many followers as possible, the world is full of individuals who like to ‘keep up with the Jones’ the more followers you have the more engagement occurs. Post daily, when you become a ghost so does everyone else. Only post quality photos, the better the picture edit the more likes and comments you’ll received. I simply follow all of these steps to maintain originality. Currently debating on purchasing real followers to drive more views to my profile and pictures. Lastly, hashtag like crazy ! You’d be surprised how often someone whom you’d probably never reach by chance can wind up browsing your profile by simply clicking on a hashtag.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Quality over quantity ! Always post originals unless you love to post memes, which has benefited some accounts. The better the quality of the picture the more a consumer/follower is drawn into your profile. Let’s be honest we all like the finer things in life.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

The introduction to a fan base I may never have crossed paths with. Partnering also expands the brand for both partners as you can exchange ideas and help each other both succeed.
