1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
I’m a Marketer by day and an Online Personal Trainer + blogger by night. I was raised in the UK, yet left for sunnier climates in Sydney, and some Australian adventures in 2011. I fell in love with the active lifestyle over here and have tried a lot of sports surfing, indoor rock climbing, beach volleyball, running, ocean swimming, triathlons and in the past 3 years I have fallen in love with Bodybuilding.
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
I love inspiring women to be more active, healthier, fitter and to generally improve their life by exercising and eating more nutritious foods. I share my balanced life and what goals I’m working towards. I love sharing the brands that are part of my daily routine, or even my treats and making recommendations to my followers.
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
I wanted something personable, because I know my individual personality is what sets me apart from everyone else and what appeals to my followers & Clients. I love fitness so Lucy loves Fitness just felt like a natural fit, because I want to empower women to love fitness too.
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
I use Pic Collage to make my quotes, Splice to edit my videos as well as my computer software, Boomerang is great fun and the Instagram filters I use sometimes but most of the time I try to take my photo’s in natural light so there’s not much filtering going on to be honest. I keep them as real as possible.
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
___laurenkate is my favourite instagrammer. We started writing on a multi-platform blog at the same a couple of years ago so that’s how I found out about her, and she focused on blogging while I focussed on bikini competitions and I love seeing how she lives her life and is a positive role model to her kids and other women. I check her feed most days.
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
Trying new recipes! I’ve just read a report which shows how much we all want to cook new recipes but because of our ‘busy’ lifestyles we opt for autopilot and eat the same meals week in/week out or get takeaway. We need to stop being a slave to ‘busy’ and give our tastebuds a treat. So I challenge everyone to make 1 new recipes a week for the next 4 weeks and increase your recipe repertoire!
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
Making a difference + connecting with people you may never meet in real life. Whether it’s somebody buying one of my personal training programs and working with me to change their lifestyle, or it’s somebody reading one of my blog posts and taking action because of the advice I’ve given. You never know how big or small a change you’re making to someone’s life and that’s really exciting and humbling at the same time.
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
Create a balance between slick photoshoot pictures which are insprirational, and original content from influencers which are relatable. Authenticity is about really knowing your target market and making sure what you put out is going to cut through all the other marketing messaging that is served to them throughout the day. I know my target market and my brand very well, hence knowing which brands are going to be the best to partner with for mutual benefit.
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
I choose brands that I would genuinely use, and that way it will come across as geniune when I talk about them. It’s very important to produce high quality content especially when representing another brand, the photo’s need to be of a higher standard than if I was just posting a workout video to give my followers some exercise ideas. If I’m using a product in my shots a lot of thought and consideration goes into it. I also make sure I use my tablecloth, tablemats, plates in the pictures so they know I’m taking the pictures at home, and I’m being real.
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
I like being part of a new world of marketing. I work in Marketing and do big advertising campaigns for the brands I work with, what I love now is how everyday people can help spread the word of a brand and help to shape that brand and represent it to our peers. It’s a really exciting position to be in.
