Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Winsdor @Windsorgrace

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I hail from Atlanta, Ga and am a painter, embroiderer and general crafts person. I love working with my hands and creating colorful and vidid work.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

On Instagram, I post pictures of what I’m working on. Whether that is painting, embroidering a painting, or an embroidery project. I try to use all three together because embroidery is such an amazing medium. It isn’t used enough. I’m currently working on some smaller embroidered pieces of jewelry.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

If my brother was a girl, my mom was going to name him Windsor Grace. I’ve been using it as a pseudonym for years. I come from an old southern family. They come up with tons of great names.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I take the photo using my regular phone camera. I put the focus on the part of the image I want to highlight. The lighting is important and I take the pictures in natural or white light. In the past, VSCO was my go to, but I like the filters in the ColorStory app, so now that’s what I like to use.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I love @lizlpayne and @_jujujust_. Right now those two are my main inspiration. I also enjoy @katherinesabbath, @sybylline_m, @helen_dardik and @betsywalton.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Going out of your comfort zone to try something new. I did that with watercolor, color in general, patterns and painting on fabric. If I’d played it safe, I’d never be where I am with my work. Also, document your work. I see where I was even a year ago and I’m shocked at how much I’ve grown.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I enjoy being a part of a community. Talking with fans of my work, and often seeing their stuff and finding myself inspired is awesome! Having a conversation about the things I love is wonderful because I’m usually alone when creating. It’s nice to be appreciated.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I’ve worked professionally with brands and social media in my day job as a graphic designer. I find it very obvious when someone doesn’t actually care about a brands. Selling the influencer on a brand and getting people who are excited about your company is the best way to draw in others. Those people who love your product are out there. Often sending influencers samples and facts about the brand and getting them to be a part of something is an easy, fun way to get passion involved.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Posting original content is so important because of rampant plagiarizing and stealing going on. There are huge companies like Zara stealing from little, one person operations and it’s so disheartening. Using quality images and quality work shows the world I’m serious about my art. I want to be respected in my community and these two things give me a place there.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I love to learn. Partnering with brands is a fun way to do that. I’ve partnered with clothing brands in the past who have turned into some of my favorite lines to buy. By getting to know their marketing, PR and others, I learned so and so company is serious, respectful and fun. I enjoy learning how companies are founded, run and about their philosophies. And I pass this knowledge into my friends offline.
