1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
My name is Victor. I’m a young photographer from sunny Venezuela, serving you unforgettable third world charm with first world sensibility.
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
I’m mostly into film and fashion. I post a lot of self-portraits featuring fashion concepts and inspired by film. I also post general lifestyle pics.
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
My last name is very similar to a Harry Potter spell (it’s Leviosa, not Leviosaaaa) so I just added my second last name’s initial to it, and Laviosal was born. It has a nice ring to it.
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
I have different apps for different purposes, but my basic routine is Vsco Cam for lighting, A Color Story for color touch ups and the built in Instagram editing tools (not the filters) are actually pretty good when you just need a touch up or two. Most of my pics I run through Photoshop first, though.
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
I really like Lucky Blue Smith’s profile. He rose to prominence via Instagram and he seems so genuine. Plus, his image quality is top notch. I also love a little known local account @teber. This guy takes pastels to another level and is very imaginative. If there’s one account that inspires me the most is Nylon Magazine’s account. It’s amazing and so unpretentious yet very thought through.
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
Boomerangs!! I know the app has been around for a while but it’s so fun to use and can really solve things quick when you gotta post and you have no material. There are so many cool things you can come up with for a Boomerang and I don’t think people exploit it enough.
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
My favourite part is seeing people like what I do. I never needed validation and I’ll always do my thing, but it’s nice to know some people get you.
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
The most important thing for a brand running a campaign is to know who your customer is and what the competition is doing. There are so many different types of campaigns on Instagram right now that you need to constantly do your homework and come up with new things. The best way to maintain authenticity is to partner with authentic people. So maybe X has 5 k more followers than Y, but Y has more personality and is more real. In the end, Y is a better choice.
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
Consumers get smarter every day. I speak from a personal point of view right now. It’s important for your content to be as best as it can be, because consumers will know if you did a half-assed job (pardon my français). Also, think outside of the box. You need a good idea to make a statement.
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
What I like best about partnering with brands is the relationship that forms because of them and the creativity that ensues. You can come up with so many good ideas you would not have thought of when tailoring content for a brand. Also, nice new things to discover are always a plus.
