Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Vanessa Lim @vanessalky_

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m an architecture student from Malaysia who has a strong passion in design as well as media. I’m also a part time content creator based on instagram and a part time model who collaborates with photographers internationally. Besides this I’m also currently an ambassador of the Shoppr app.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I love fashion, food, and generally engaging with people. My instagram consists mainly of portraits taken by photographers I’ve worked with, cafe flatlays and travel photos.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Its a combination of my first name “vanessa” and my chinese name “lim kar yarn” – “lky”, making it @vanessalky_

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

Vsco is the main app I use for filters, besides snapseed. I usually upload a photo onto Snapseed to adjust specifics, then transfer it to Vsco to add a filter (usually HB2 or A6). Before posting it, I would also adjust the basics (brightness/contrast/saturations) on instagram itself.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I really love Isabel (@prettyfrowns) for her effortless classy style; and Jen (@imjennim) for her edgy style. Locally I love Don (@happyfingers) for his portrait photography. They

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

I would say the Snapseed app as it is so specific in adjustments, it helped me alot in perfecting the photos I post.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

Engaging with talented, inspiring individuals/ company across the globe.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

One main tip should be to engage with influencers who put effort in marketing by creating good content and not just influencers who has a large follower base. This way the brand would maintain its marketing quality in content.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Quality and originality would attract society better in terms of its creativity and uniqueness as well as the obvious effort put in. By maintaining these aspects, more people/company would want to engage in business with the brand.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I really love meeting people, attending events and trying new experiences. I always aim to bring people together and spread positivity through brand/business/marketing engagements!
