Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Tamar Hope @Tamarhope

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

My name is Tamar, I’m 22 years old and I’m from England. I’m currently a student in my final year of university and the university of Birmingham (studying English Literature and Philosophy) and I’m in the process of deciding what direction I want to take myself in after graduation!

I started social media on tumblr as a hobby, never expecting to get many followers. I now have almost 18,000 followers and have thousands of anonymous messages in my inbox – mostly from young girls asking for advice!

I’ve always been creative sonny Instagram, blog and YouTube all flow from that.

I’m also engaged and am currently planning a wedding! I’m getting married on the 22nd July 2017, and I cannot wait!

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I’m vegan, so I love seeing food posts, also sustainable fashion, travel.. lifestyle posts interest me the most. I want to see how people live their lives and what they do on a daily basis. I think we all love getting an insight into the private lives of others, it’s fascinating!

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My name is Tamar Hope Smith, but I’ve always thought that my surname was pretty boring compared to my other names, plus I knew I’d be getting married young and my surname would change, and I just really like the way Tamar Hope sounds. I like being authentic online, and since I post about lifestyle topics, it seems fitting that I connect with my followers on a personal level and use my own name.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I take the photos with my IPhone 6s, or my canon EOS M10, then I edit them firstly in VSCO, and then maybe add a layer of further editing in Afterlight. I like the vintage, film image look, and Afterlight has some amazing overlays to bring about this effect.

I love annietarasova, fithealthyproject, plantbasedjudy, bonnyrebecca, em.peachy and tessbegg

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

I’m sure everyone already knows about it, but the film effects on Afterlight change the game for me, minimalist but effectual!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I just love people. I love connecting authentically with people, hearing from people, responding to people, interacting with people all over the world. I love that I can express myself creatively and that social media provides an audience and a shared experience with that, I think that’s really special. I’m passionate about spreading a message of positivity and love, and I’m endlessly grateful to social media for allowing me room to do that.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Don’t sell yourself, be true to who you are. Nobody likes to see perfection 100% of the time, people like to be able to relate to you, to follow your journey through the ups and downs, and to watch you grow. It encourages them to do the same.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Original content is a must to grow an audience, in my opinion. People like new things, and especially on social media, people get bored really easily. Create things that you enjoy and find aesthetically pleasing, and chances are, others will feel the same.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

It’s another way to connect with my followers, to give them an insight into my life. If I promote a brand, that means that I think it’s worth promoting and my followers will trust that. I feel as though there’s a difference between promoting just anything and everything, and promoting brands that you genuinely enjoy and want to share with others. It’s the idea that you’re helping people out that’s really awesome.
