Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Syukri Salim @1stheist

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Hey, my name is Syukri and im currently studying in ITE College Central pursuing my Nitec Course in Business Services. Currently, waiting for my result to determined whether im able to advance in Higher Nitec. My hometown is Singapore, that’s where all my photos are taken unless stated.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

As for me, my interest is basically more to photography and a little of videography. I don’t really focus much on one particular genre as i want to expand my opportunity and try new things.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

This is a tough question haha. Never thought of this. So basically, before i start my journey in becoming a photographer. i was inspired by this guy on instagram called ‘1st’. His feed are more to street which makes me want to start street photography. As for heist, its just a recommendation from my fellow photography mates. So thats how my instagram name came by.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

For me, i usually use LIghtroom on laptop. i don’t really use other apps as its sometimes doesn’t give the quality i want. But when i love some filters like in VSCO. ( shoutout to them for the amazing filters) I will intend to figure out on how to create that filter on Lightroom. It will took awhile but once i achieve that filter, i will be proud as i achieve something. Usually, i will edit once i reach home from shoot as that’s where your mind has already think of what your photo wants to look like.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

As i mentioned in Question 3. Definitely, 1st. I really love his work. His composition, edits, quality of photo are really amazing. It has the dramatic feels when i looked at his photos.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

To my fellow instagrammers, if there’s an opening opportunity, take it! Be it wedding, events, landscape, action-sport, portraits photography or whatever you can name of. Just try it. You never know what you are capable of if you don’t try.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

As for me, my favorite part is working with new collaborators. Reason why, i will be able to hear their insight stories of how they start their brand and the struggle. Its very interesting and sometimes you will be inspired by it. This is where you learn about each people and what they do, beside the free stuff you will be getting of course. haha!

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

My tips to brands. Go for quality and not quantity. I worked with different brands before and mostly are new brands that’s wants to be part of the community. So i roughly know how it worked. here are some tips that might help your brand with.
– Increase your followers by sharing it to your instagrammers.
– Collaborate with different Influencer as they have different target audience.
– Lastly, promote. Promote your brand. Never stop promoting.

How to maintain authenticity?
Be inspired but don’t copy. If you want to copy, don’t copy fully. just get some ideas and improvise..

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

My advice is. Make sure produce good quality as this will affect your brand reputation. As for original content. Once you start a brand, that’s is considered original. Unless your brand name example is Adidas or Nike. Then that’s something wrong. So what i suggest is that create a brand where no one uses that name before.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

What i like best is basically the opportunity you received from brands. Its fun when you are able to share your knowledge with them and help the brand grow.
