Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Lynn @fashiondisastercc

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Hi, my name is Lynn.
I’m 30 years old, I live in Belgium and I’ve been working in the hearing aid business for five years now.
My heart, however, lies with fashion and everything that is connected with it.
For years I’ve been trying to get it right, just doing my own thing, dressing the way I like, even if it makes me look stupid or like a sixteen year old 🙂

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I’m interested in everything that is connected to fashion, wether it is clothes or phone cases.
On Instagram I post the most outfits, not perfect ones, just normal daily life ones, honesty is key.
No Photoshop is used, just me, mostly in secondhand clothes.
I’m really getting in to make-up now, how to be more skilled, trying out different things, so that’s something for the near future.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My mother died at a young age and my father never really cared about fashion but always said I had a weird taste in clothes, paints with paint on them for example.
At school I was bullied for being different, I was the quiet one, nose stuck in a book, minding my own business.
It convinced me that I was weird, badly wired, a disaster.
Not just in fashion but in my way of being.
Instagram are my outfits, my fashion disasters, my blog is my personal mood, feelings, and so on.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I just use the standard Instagram tools, lighting and so on, no extra’s, it has to stay “real”, not perfect.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

My Instagram inspiration started with Negin Mirsalehi, a Dutch girl, who gathered 100.000 followers in a year, in a non conventional way, and she was honest about it.
After reading her interview, where she told the interviewer that everyone had thought that she wouldn’t succeed but thought I’ll prove you wrong and did just that, I was inspired.
If she could do it, I could do it and maybe I could pass on the torch, a fashion disaster that succeeds, that must inspire people, no?

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Believing in themselves.
Society is hard these days, nothing seems good enough and we all seem to get the feeling that we are always two steps behind.
Know that you are doing the best you can, follow your heart, listen to your own voice, and you will be just fine.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

Getting to know all kinds of different people, different cultures, all of them with a vision, a dream, a reality that is sometimes really hard, or really beautiful.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Brands should give more freedom to influencers, we are creative people, that is why we do this.
We love your products to become personal, a part of our daily lives and to show this to others.
Don’t make it “fake” by telling us what sentences to use or how to show the product, let us be ourselves and the people will fall in love with your products because of that.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

To me, it’s very important, we are all unique individuals.
We see things differently, and often that is thought of as a weakness, we should all be in the same page, doing the same things, move forward together.
But what is fun in that?
We all got a mind, to think, freely, without the need to copy anyone else.
Nobody is you, show that off, in the best way you can.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Being creative, getting new ideas, a rush of energy.
Building something together, making something unique.
Learning new things.
