1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
My name is Mikey, I’m all about enjoying life! I come from a small town in England but I’m always travelling around the UK, some of my favourite places include central London and Southend-on-sea. I love dogs and I love seeing beautiful things and taking photos of them for everyone to see. I also love to edit video and photos to give everything a fresh and funky look.
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
My topics of interest are very broad, I try to keep my focus mostly around lifestyle and nice looking places, things, and people. My Instagram used to be focused around my edits of musicians that I like but I’m trying to re-focus more on things I see in reality and make them look fantastic for everyone to see. My Instagram Story is a bit different to my main Instagram, my Story is mostly about when I go to new places or parties, or when I cook nice meals that I’m quite proud of.
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
Well I’ve been interested in photography and sharing my life with people for a long time, and a few years ago, a friend of mine showed me this app called Instagram and I loved it and have really enjoyed seeing it grow and evolve over time.
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
I use a few different apps for editing but it’s all done on my iPhone. I use Pixomatic, Cinemagraph, and Afterlight for touching up photos and adding some filters, and I use apps like Glitché for adding interesting effects. When I edit my videos I mostly use Funinate because it offers a wide range of special effects and allows you to add music to your videos, it also has a very large community that are fun to interact with.
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
I try not to take too much direct influence from people because I like to have my own style as much as possible but it’s always nice to get suggestions and ideas from other Instagrammers. Some people who I don’t necessarily take influence from but absolutely adore on Instagram include; the hilarious Tommylenk, the stunning Rubyrose, and of course my best friend in the world Leiarosepunk.
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
Just do your own thing! Try to take pictures of things that you absolutely love the look of, even if it doesn’t necessarily fit the style of your feed, give it a whirl! You might be surprised to see where it leads.
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
Well, it’s still early days for me but I am absolutely loving it! It gives me freedom to express myself and I feel like I have my own voice! There’s nothing like it.
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
That’s a good question, I would say just try to give your influencers as much freedom as possible, as long as it’s not rooting against your product you should let them have creative freedom on how they want to promote your product, service, or brand.
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
I think quality is very important for your Instagram! Make your photos or videos look like something you would want to like if somebody else made it. Original content is very important too, it’s a great feeling to have people like something that is all yours, but it’s also very important to pay homage to our culture as a sign of respect.
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
My favourite thing about partnering with brands is that I can let people know about something that I truly believe in. There are some fantastic things out there and it’s a wonderful thing to be able to share their message.
