Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Sherlyn Goh @sherlynshuxian

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am Sherlyn from Johor Bahru, Johor. Currently I am a medical student in Monash University Malaysia. Outside medical school, I am also a blogger at www.sherlynshuxian.com. It is difficult to update my blog frequently but I do try to be as active as possible.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I am a foodie and I am interested in cafe hopping. My post on instagram is mainly about food pictures.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My Instagram name is just my name: sherlynshuxian. It is nothing special but it is just me. Sherlyn is my English name and Shu Xian is my chinese name.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I am using VSCO most of the time for food picture. I love it as it is simple and consist of most of the things that I need. I uses snapseed too but it is not so user friendly if you are not familiar with the app. However, once you familiarized yourself with it, it is actually a good app and it have more sophisticated function.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I really like Lance Ong with the username of lancetaey. His photos is mainly on FOOD and he has a very nice Instagram profile. I am so happy that he follows me on Instagram!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Hashtag! Hashtag is a good tool to help you to find the content that you are interested no matter where you are.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I don’t think I am an influencer as I think that there are many things that I need to improve on before I can be one. However, my favorite part of being an ‘influencer’ is that I can convey my message to my audiences. For example, I posted an photo about a restaurant before and afterwards, I saw my friends started going to the restaurant and tried whatever I recommended. Being able to contribute in this way brings me sense of achievement.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

To the brands that run campaigns, I feel that it is important for the brand to find someone that can represent the brand. The amount of followers is important as well as it can help the brand to reach more audiences.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

It is very important. For every content that I published, I make sure that the quality is at its best as I believed that quality and originality are the key things that keep me going in a long run. It showed the sincerity of my works as well.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Partnering with brands usually allow me to know a brand better!
