Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Sharif Malik Stone @sharifmalik

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

My name is Sharif Malik Stone. I am originally from Columbus, Ohio but currently live in Chicago. I came to Chicago to expand my creative passions and dive into the big city life. Although the Columbus is a big city so to speak, growing up I have always yearned for something bigger and exciting. I just want to be free, soak in culture and go. I love to travel, experience and meet people thus I can comfortably say that Chicago is just one stop on the many places that I will explore and travel to.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I am interested in many, many things. I love music, fashion, art, photography, travel, food, science, astrology, skincare/beauty and much more. However, on my Instagram I mainly post pictures of beautiful city sights that I have travelled to in Chicago, outfit pictures that I have styled myself, occasionally an astrology post here and there and food picture. I intend on posting more of fun places to eat in whatever city I am in as well as cool spots to visit such as museums.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Hmm… My Instagram name is very simple. It’s my real name Sharif Malik. I have always loved my name and the ring that is has when pronounced properly, plus I would say it’s kind of unique so I chose to have it as the name of my account!!

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

My favorite app to edit pictures on is VSCO. I think that app edits pictures in a way where the photo looks very crisp and clean. I love all of the different sliders you can play with on the app to add depth and character to photo. My favorite filter on VSCO is A6!

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I have had Instagram for a while and have definitely fallen in love with some cool accounts. A couple of my favorites are @tonimahfud and @jayalvarrez. What inspires me most about an Instagram account is how cohesive and personal the pictures are– even if it’s just a selfie posted three times in a row, I love to see that someone has taken time to make it look cool visually appealing.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

I tell all my friends that they should always brighten their pictures a tad, boost the contrast and sharpen. I think that makes the picture very crisp and clean and attractive to the eye.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favorite thing about being an influencer is that I can inspire people to be different, more creative, or even take a risk. There are definitely people who do that for me, so I love that some people look at me like that and I can influence them!

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I think the biggest tip is to make the campaign personalised. Most people are flipping through Instagram in bed, at work, or on commute which are daily things people do. So if the campaign can be seen as something obtainable and doable to other people I think it will succeed.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Quality is very important. Depending on the type of quality that you choose, that quality becomes very unique to you and essentially becomes your brand.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

My favorite thing about partnering with brands is sharing with everyone my love for the brand which will further inspire people to research the brand which can lead to further success for the brand
