Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Sarah Shropshire @sshropshire

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m from Washington state aka a child of the rain. I think the gloom influences the way I dress, hence I stick to a more monochromatic palette. I’m 24 and finding out new things about myself and style everyday. I went to school in NY and loved every minute of it. I’ve also had the amazing opportunity of interning for the Rachael Ray Show which, intrinsically spurred my interest in becoming a blogger/content creator. I was an art and production intern so making things look good was my main duty. I’d like to think that I have an eye for making things look pleasing to the eye.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I currently Instagram about fashion, beauty and lifestyle as well as on my blog House of Shropshire. I post about what I wear and where I bought the items or even sometimes a DIY project I’ve done. I’m also interested in travel and dope spots to eat. Those categories are coming soon to the blog. Some of my picture included the crazy amounts of coffee I consume too. If you’re like me, you know that coffee is LIFE.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

sshropshire: It’s the first letter of my first name and then my last name. It’s pretty unique over here in the states, so I figured it would be memorable. My family pronounces it: shRop-shy-er.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

VSCO VSCO VSCO! Basically the one and only. I have so much love for this app and the community they’ve built through it. They have so many great filters and editing tools for the “minimal grammar.” I would recommend it to anyone though!

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

Oh the list is endless. There are so many instagrammers I look up to. But here are a few:
Fgtny (blogger) – very minimal, chic, and aesthetly pleasing feed
Sincerelyjules (blogger) – she’s beautiful and if you haven’t heard of her, look her up and you’ll probably recognize her. I love the way she edits her photos.
Orion Carloto (writer, YouTuber) – she’s my spirit animal. From having the same zodiac sign, to her minimal feed, her writing, her style, and her gap between her teeth. I’d say by far, Orion influences me the most. She’s pretty dope to say the least.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

You gotta try to be yourself. There is a difference between inspiration and imitation. Know that you are one of a kind and those who like you will stay and those who don’t will leave. Gain a following and connect with them. You’d be surprised by the networking opportunities that can happen through this platform!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favorite part is creating content. I love the creative process of setting up a shot. Whether it be for an outfit, an ad or just to update my followers on something happening in my life.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Give creators freedom and strait forward guidelines. My authenticity comes from multiple inspirations, in which, I create the final product. I’m inspired by shapes, textures, light, shadow and form.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I think the real question is: Would you want to follow your own Instagram? If no, then change it up. People want eye-catching, quality photos. Take time and think about what you’re really trying to convey through the visuals you’re putting out.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I love the idea that we can both benefit from this experience. I get to be creative and earn something for it while they get their name out there. It’s a win-win. I also find out about products I’ve never used before and end up buying more because I loved it so much!
