Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Rachael Valentina Ng @rachng_

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Hi, I am Rachael and I am from Singapore! I am currently a DeeJay (managed by Altra Management Singapore), a full time student (pursuing my diploma in a local polytechnic) and an event talent!

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

Make up, make up and make up. Upon coming across my Instagram, you will definitely see my selfies, pictures of me Deejay-ing, pictures with my lovely group of friends having a #chillout session and sometimes, just sometimes, a little nice view of somewhere I have been too.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

HAHA, this is an interesting question. My named is spelled as RachAel with an extra ‘A” and 9/10 people I met often get my name spelled wrong, can you believe that my dad spells me name wrongly? People often call me by “Rach” and my family name is Ng so therefore – rachng is then created so I will not spend most of my time correcting people about my name when they try to find me on instagram!

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I am someone who is so lazy to edit my photos so VSCO is my go to app. I normally choose HB1 filters in VSCO and the best thing is that it is free! So i will always preset it to no.6 and then adjust my brightness level up to 1/2 and decreased the temperature of my photos so as the photos will look as yellowish as it is!

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

hmmm, this is a tough one. I don’t really have a favorite instagrammer but if I were to choose, I really like Sophie Gray’s instagram! It is always good to scroll through your feeds with some really reflective and postive posts! And her post are all so genuinely connecting to the audience!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Instagram’s filters has stepped their game up, don’t worry about trying it.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I won’t exactly call myself an influencer but having the opportunities to attend events such as the Singapore Fashion Step Out 2016 or G2000 new launch of collections or even have a chance to taste food that are not even out yet definitely have it’s perks!

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Always do your research on the brands that you’re working with. Be sure that you are giving your honest opinion. Anyone can google for what they searched for these days and if you were to have the same content as others, there’s no point a company will engage your for running campaigns.
In the internet world now, it is very easy to get swayed away from your own paths. I maintain authenticity by sticking true to myself in the aspects where I hang out with people who allows me to be who I really am. I only do things that is standing by my morals and not for monetary terms.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Be engaging in your content. If i were to read something about an product, and all I can see is just how the products works, i will cross that page immediately. Everyone is treating the internet now as their “talking buddy” so I feel that you need to be engaging in your content – with information & a little entertainment.
Another thing, do not just copy and paste what is given to you. Try to rephrase it to your style so your followers know that it is “YOU” who are posting it and not someone who directed you to post it!

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

It really expose myself to many different kind of things. Sometimes, I have to get out of my comfort zone by trying something new but you never try, you never know and I love how the brands I work with always value my opinions!
