1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
My name is Quincy Megas I’m an up and coming rapper who started off posting cover videos on Instagram. After one of my videos was posted on a popular South African meme page on Instagram with over half a million followers, my audience on the platform grew by over 30 000 people in just a single month. This led to me focusing more on making original music too and I’ve never looked back since.
I’m is originally from Johannesburg but am now living in South Korea where I am pursuing music full time as well as being a songwriter for other artists. My musical style centers on my fondness for storytelling through the use of rhymes and witty expositions and my musical tastes and subsequent style of my own music are quite broad.
I enjoy using my Instagram platform as it’s the main way of not only promoting my brand and my music but as a way of also genuinely engaging with my audience.
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
I’m a musician, so the bulk of my content is music-related. I started off sharing cover videos which I remixed and put my own spin on as a rapper. As I grew in popularity and gained fans, people started asking for original music as well. I obliged and started to make more of my own music too. I also post vlog-style content as a way to be able to share other aspects of my brand with my audience.
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
The story of my Instagram name is quite an interesting one, Quincy is my normal first name but Megas comes from Alexander The Great and it means “the greatest”. Alexander is a famous King from ancient history and the thing that struck me the most about him was how one of his generals said that his aim was always to build an empire of the mind. To me, this meant that he was interested in having an impact on the way that people thought and perceived the world. He was also interested in cultural exchange which at the time made him revolutionary. After finding out about his story and diving further into it I decided that because so much of Alexander’s story resonated with me, I should be Quincy Megas.
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
As a musical artist, I’m more interested in videos than pictures and after the music, the Quincy Megas brand revolves around video on Instagram. To edit my videos I make use of Filmora 9 which is a great video editor and it’s able to handle the high-resolution 4K video I throw at it. Whenever I do have pictures I’d like to post I usually do some minimalistic editing with Lightroom.
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
There are many Instagrammers who inspire me. I look up to people such as @lifebythor, who shares great motivational content and is really engaging with his audience. From a musical perspective, the rise of an Instagrammer such as @thxbi has been truly inspirational to witness.
6) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
I enjoy being able to make content that offers people escapism, educates them, entertains or shows them a unique perspective. Seeing my audience react to the various things I do is always great and I love to interact with them as well. I think that being an influencer is a big responsibility because you have to impact people in a positive way, your content has to leave people feeling good.

My favorite part about StarNgage is that it helps to connect influencers with brands. This can lead to great working relationships between the two entities. I think that it is important for both brands and influencers to be able to understand each other’s needs and StarNgage helps with that a lot!
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
I think that brands should always endeavor to match their target audience with the audience of the influencer they are working with. This way, when people see an advertising campaign the chances of it resonating with them is higher because it will be targeted and relevant. This will result in a higher click-through rate and ROI for brands.
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
Original and quality content is the lifeblood of any social media platform because I believe that is what people go onto a social media platform to see. Having a lot of quality original content results in a healthy online eco-system on a social media platform, that leads to a great user experience which leads to more users who spend time engaging with content. This is great for everyone, normal users, creators as well as brands.
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
Partnering with brands can be a great way to share something that will be useful to your audience, whether it’s a product or a service. This means that as an influencer, you can give even more value to your audience on top of your own content.
