1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
I am Nicola, I’m almost 18 years old and I am from Italy. I am a very extroverted person and as a matter of fact I have many friends and I know lots of people. I love fashion (I was probably born with that gene, as fashion here is part of our tradition) and I love travelling. I spend my fourth year of high school in the United States as an exchange student: this awesome experience brought me a new and wider perspective of life, and brought me other friends as well! I know this description isn’t way too original, but these are truly the main main things that build my personality.
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
My topics of interests are travelling, food and social life in general. As i’ve already written in the first question I am also very passionate about fashion, but I never post about it. I really would like to start, I thought about it many many times but I never took the chance. Maybe this is going to be the perfect excuse to start, who knows!!
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
I wanted something original, not too common, but at the same time that people could still connect it was me. Since everybody calls me either “Nicus” or “Nick” or “Nichi” then I decided to take the first part “nic” which is a common factor for all the three names and add it to my surname. I wanted to keep it simple.
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
Usually when I find something I need to capture I take many pictures of the same thing changing the perspective. Then I look at all the pictures I took and I delete the ones that don’t really convince me. Once I have the right shot I want to edit I usually use only VSCO cam. I usually change a little bit the contrast of the colors, I might add some clarity, some sharpness and usually I have just a tiny bit of saturation to give more color to the whole image.
The filter I use is usually the same, but it might change from one time to another. It’s a very spontaneous process, once I like the picture I might push the editing a little further with instagram tools and then it’s ready to be posted!
It sounds (and it is) kinda like a long process but I enjoy it a lot. (I don’t make collages but if I have to use an app for collages I use Moldiv)
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
I really like: livingthehealthychoice, cupofcouple, gnambox, chiaraferragni, marianodivaio, elivedovato, marcoscomparin and many many others. I actually go everyday on the explore section and find people I appreciate, but seldom I start following them. Probably cupofcouple inspires me the most: everything looks so pretty in their pictures.
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
Instagram stories!! It has been criticized a lot because of the huge common aspects that shares with snapchat, but I think it is really interesting. Instagram stories uploaded by the original instagram profile always narrate interesting facts and capture the main aspects of a certain situation (eg. the last story they posted was about voting and I thought it was really educational).
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
Usually everybody likes my pictures and I get asked by many friends to edit pictures for them. It is really pleasing because this simply mean that thet trust me and they like what I do.
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
I maintain authenticity accepting what I like. I just simply follow my instinct. I won’t have anybody choosing for me at any cost and I will just be myself. For running campaigns, brands should connect with the people who can really translate into pictures and advertisement their thoughts and beliefs (which are usually products).
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
Instagram is just way too full of people uploading indifferent content. I am for the motto “less quantity, more quality” because instagram should be the representative of a group of people who use this social media platform as an exchange of ideas, concepts, arts. Everyone should stand for what they believe in and what most people don’t understand is that instagram can be used as a journal or a personal diary. You upload images also for yourself, so that when you’re bored you look at your beautiful lifetime adventures, as you do with a diary!
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
Being the ambassador of their thoughts and their hard work. I like the fact that they might find in me what they were looking for, making of myself a person that can understand their ethic and working environment.
