Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Nena Moreno @nena_moreno

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I identify myself with the beauty of vintage for its femininity and elegance. Mexican born blend of Italian, Spanish and Aztec blood has had a great influence in my personal style and Pin-Up images.

I am currently based in Los Angeles, California were I work as a Beauty Expert and Award Winning PinUp infusing 10 years of Make-Up artistry experience in it all. I also have a great love for collecting vintage clothing and pictures of the Golden Era of Mexican Cinema.

I was born in Michoacan, Mexico where I stayed every summer until I graduated High School. My summers in Mexico on the ranch with my grandparents really shaped my style since that is where I learned a lot about the Golden Era of Mexican Cinema.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My tropics of interest are retro fashion, beauty & lifestyle with a modern twist. I’m not only a retro beauty and fashion expert but also hold three Beauty Pageants titles as “Pin-Up Queen.” I greatly enjoy sharing my vision with the world while embracing ones own uniqueness and beauty. What I post on Instagram is mostly inspired makeup and fashion looks/ videos with a retro feel.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My Instagram name came about from my nickname. In my home town (Michoacan, Mexico) it is common to shorten the name of “Maria Elena” to “Nena” and being a big admire of black and white Mexican Cinema from the 1940’s and 50’s where it was popular for the actresses to use a unique first and last name to introduce themselves I as well utilized a shorten version of my given name.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I actually don’t like to use too many filters. I like the colors to be vibrant and let the makeup/ fashion shine through. The only app I use is FaceTune to smooth any flyaways and any uneven texture on the skin that is not visible to the naked eye but catches on camera.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I actually am not inspired by a particular Instagrammer, I am inspired by the actresses from the Golden Hollywood Era and retro styles that then translate over to my images.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Peter Lamas Deep Conditioner (It is the best detangling conditioner I have EVER used and it has all natural) and of course the NYX lip colors especially the reds!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favorite part about being an influencer is the ability to inspire others that also enjoy the style of that era since when I was growing up I didn’t have anyone that really looked like me that I could relate too. If in the process of inspiring them to be themselves regardless of what is popular or trending I can make their day it’s a bonus and that inspires me as well to continue to dare to be different.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

My best tips to brands would to customize the campaigns to influencers when possible allowing it to be more authentic. I maintain authenticity by staying true to myself and what my style/brand is as well as knowing my audience.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

To me it is the MOST important thing when it comes to content creation. You most know your brand and what resonates with your audience that is what is going to have your followers and brands coming back for more.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

What I enjoy the most about partnering up with brands is ability to not only try the products but saving my audience time by sharing the best products on the market.
