Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Natalie Koval @nataliekovalphoto

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I was born in Slovakia and grew up in Australia – I am now a Sydney based lifestyle photographer. My love for natural light and laid back lifestyle kept her passion flowing throughout her studies at UNSW Art & Design. I have been creating content for life-lovers, creative thinkers and product entrepreneurs for the past few years and will continue to grow as a creative through future campaigns and crafted editorials.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My focus is fashion lifestyle editorials and campaigns. I love posting the ‘in-between’ moments captured when shooting for a brand I love and support. I love using natural colours in my editing, nothing too surreal or else the viewers can’t picture themselves within that sphere.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My Insta name is very simple. It’s my name plus ‘photo’ to help people quickly recognise that I’m all about that imagery!

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I don’t use any apps to edit, I use Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. I may sometimes tinge the images in Insta when I’m feelin’ a bit more creative at the time.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I can’t believe I haven’t found this girl sooner, but I’m loving the work of @ming_nomchong_photo ! Her images are beyond beautiful and I definitely aspire to be working with brands that she has had the opportunity of working with. Other #bossgirl accounts include @caitmiersphotography , @_carlybrownphotography_ and @pixpop ! All amazing.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

You’ve gotta try the online calendar www.getplan.co . It has changed the way I plan my life and work, and it gives me a chance to balance everything. Definitely go check it out! They have an app too!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I love being able to produce content for brands that I truly like and would promote for free because they are that good!

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I would say to change it up a lot, see what styles work, try to play with the seasons according to your target market. I like to see a variety of different campaigns when looking at brands, especially in fashion, not campaigns that blend into the same thing. That’s very boring, you need to spark an interest.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I believe that the importance of quality and original content is very, very high. It is always a breath of fresh air to find someone who’s thinking and creating something that’s honestly brewing deep within them. I wanna know the real you, not something you think I want to see or hear about.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I love partnering with brands to help create a storyline, a lifestyle. It is not about just the product anymore, it is about how you wear it, how you use it. Can your potential customers see themselves within that world? If yes, you’ve hit the nail on the head.
