Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Michelle Gianciana @gianciana

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Hey! I am Michelle from Jakarta, Indonesia. I am 19 years old lady and graduated from Diploma in Fashion Design. I am now a freelance fashion stylist, blogger and youtuber. I also had an internship in several Fashion Stores and Designers from Indonesia. I have contributed my skills in Fashion since I was in High School.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I really love fashion. My instagram posts are mostly my Outfit of The Day and flatlays all related to fashion and sometimes food. I enjoy looking for artistic places like coffee shop or museums to create a good content on social media. Lately I have been endorsed by several onlineshop from Indonesia, so I also tried to catch the market’s attention by posting it attractively.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

It was my middle name. It’s given by the combination of my mother and father’s name. I think by this username I can gain many people attention because of its uniqueness rather than my first name, Michelle, which I can say a little bit more mainstream than Gianciana.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

First, I am using a natural color from the camera, I use Nikon J5 and my Samsung Note 5. I always use VSCO and Instagram to edit the tone I wanted. I always like white or greyish feed. So, I always increase the brightness, contrast and minimize the saturation. I really love using filter HB1 and S2 from VSCO. Sometimes, I also use photoshop to adjust the brightness.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

Yes of course. I really like @olivialazuardy. She has a really good content and her blog is amazing. I really like how she constantly upload every single photos and with a good quality too. She inspired me to always keep my social media as nice as possible in order to get peoples attention.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

I think they have to try to post what is really worth to post and not wrong mistaken Instagram as a spam account or cheap social media platform. In contrast, I guess Instagram really influenced people in many good way.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

The best part is that I got so motivated to create a good content not only for myself but to my followers. I love to share what I like and when they also like what I share, I feel so satisfied and this boosts my energy and moods.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I guess the brand should keep a good and attractive feed on instagram, they have to be active before the Brand Launching in order to gain followers and also they have to maintain their style not just copying the trend. Endorsing is good options but if they’re a new brand, I guess the best way is to give a promotions to several numbers of first buyers. By that, people will wait for the other promotions and I still think the best way to promote is mouth-by-mouth which means, if the brand already have a good feed, they also have to maintain their quality. Once they have negative comments, they can lose their fame.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

My advice is, to always look from surroundings. I always find inspiration not only from the people I like but also from the situation surroundings. Example, when I want to post flatlays, I always look from pinterest and some instagrammers, I get the idea on how I want to do the props styling and by that I combine with my very own idea on how to make it attractive. It is very important to have an original content, you have to know your own style. And for the quality, make sure you have a good cameras or at least skill to edit the photos so it will be nice when being posted to social media.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I can resist the good stuffs given from them! But not that, I can really open up my mind to create a good content for the brands and its satisfying when they accept the concept from me. This will give me not only the experience to work professionally but also to be a creative individual. I really like communicating with new people and especially people who came from Fashion Industry.
