Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Michel Hesselink @touristyadvisor

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I coMy name is Michel Hesselink and I am a student from Amsterdam. I recently started photographing and travelblogging and I enjoy it a lot! I come from Zaandam, a city 10 minutes from Amsterdam.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I post photos of my travels and adventures and I try to include a meaningful tip with each and every photo I post, regarding nice places to visit or best viewpoints, that sort of thing.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I wanted to use Touristadvisor but it was already taken, so I settled for Touristyadvisor hahaha

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

If it’s a photo taken with my Nikon, I use Photoshop or Lightroom and with my mobile phone I swear by Snapseed. I love that app. For landscapes, I use the drama filter regularly and I always include some more detail in the photo.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

My two favourite photographers are @muenchmax and @maxrivephotography. @jacob has some stunning photos too!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

An interrail-journey! It’s a pass, you have to pay like 200 bucks for it, and then you can go for 1 or 2 weeks through Europe by train! Almost every train and country is included in the pass. I traveled from Berlin to Prague, Budapest, Croatia and Venice.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I love to get feedback from followers and I think it’s amazing that there are people who truly enjoy my content.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Start conversations with your followers and truly engage with them, it’s always authentic that way!

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Never, ever be content with mediocre work and photos, always post your best content. Quality over quantity.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

The fact that both parties win in that situation. It’s a win-win!
