Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Mia @miasoarez

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am the creator of Silver Girl, a fashion website that features the latest trends, motivational/self-development content as well as my own personal style and thoughts. It is based on the idea that the way we think and the way we dress are very well connected. I studied fashion at Istituto Marangoni in Milan, and I am based in London, but often abroad with friends. I worked on e-commerce and production so quality is something that I value in the content I share.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

On Instagram I mostly share my style, traveling, and overall lifestyle.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

It is my name. 🙂 But to give you a more interesting answer.
Silver Girl was a merge of several things.
My middle name is Silva, but if you pronounce it with a British accent it sounds Silver. When I created Silver Girl I wanted to state that although it was about fashion and good taste, it was not about being a golden girl but a silver girl, a girl who is much cooler, and original. It has been highly associated with the girl from 90210 as well. In symbology Silver is associated with feminine strength.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

It would depend on what was used to take the photo. I use Lightroom mostly. I don’t like VSCO. I have been using Snapseed and Aviary for a long time, and recently Facetune. I often use Instagram’s editing tools as well.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I like to follow people with an original style, that would hardly be confused with someone else. I think Chiara Ferragni is one of the most inspiring so far, and I think because when you have so much available to wear, your decisions project a more exact vision you had in your mind, so it is always interesting to see what she’s wearing.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Being more vulnerable sharing your ideas and not looking so much to blend. The description of a photo gives you the opportunity to share what is on your mind, and that is where people get to know you the most. Don’t worry about being likeable to everyone, I once heard something like ‘if it seems like everyone likes you, you are not there yet’.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

The people who interact with you from different cultures, with different perspectives. It’s so interesting and is something I am looking forward to keeping up with, as I grow online. Another cool thing about it is getting to try new clothes from different brands, some brands can be very inspiring and push your creativity.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Sharing what they have in mind as the perfect outcome, but leaving it open for creativity to make it more personal.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I think most people look for authentic flawlessness on Instagram, so displaying your original ideas while caring for quality is likely to make it more entertaining to follow you.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I like getting to share about something people might not have heard before and the creative aspect of it. Each brand is so different.
