1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
I’m a full time Alberta Parks employee by day and Photographer by night, and weekends of course! I spend lots of my time exploring, hiking, and taking landscape/travel/night photographs. I took up photography only a few years ago once I moved to Alberta because it was just too beautiful not to capture the scenery!
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
Landscape photographs are my bread and butter. I love seeing awe inspiring photographs that can bring inspiration to just about anyone. I post mostly travel and landscape photographs to my Instagram with a good mix of Astro-photography.
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
Well thats quite easy to answer, I decided to use my first and last name.
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
Lightroom and Photoshop. I use Lightroom on almost all my shots to get the edit I like! It’s usually an adjustment of the whites/blacks, lights and darks with a touch of vignette. I venture over to photoshop when I need to stitch a panorama or layer a composite of photos!
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
Paul Zizka is hands down my biggest inspiration. I really took notice of his work when I moved out west and I always enjoy his creativity when it comes to landscape photographs. I also enjoy following along with travel instagrammers such as Calsnape, Stevint, and hubs such as NatGeo, ExploreCanada and TravelAlberta to see photos of all the talented photographers in the country.
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
Well with the heavy snowfalls and ski hills opening soon I would say they gotta try getting some rad ski shots!
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
I love being able to show a wide audience the images I can capture or create through my work. I hope to inspire others to get out and enjoy the breathtaking landscapes around us.
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
I think the best tips are to get creative shots that have a captivating story to go along with them. People love to read about experiences and a great story so if you can put that together with a great photo then you will have a successful campaign. A great way to maintain authenticity is to connect the brand to the story or image somehow so that it seems organic.
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
Quality is key, I always try to make sure each photo I take is better than the one before. It’s the greatest way to improve and provide great original content.
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
Partnering with brands is great to provide the brand with original content with my own personal take on it! And it also allows me to reach wider audience and get creative with my work.
