Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Marqui Jordán @OohMarqui

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am a 27 year old Wardrobe Stylist turned Singer-Songwriter living and working in Los Angeles. In 2010 I moved to LA to begin my career in music and very quickly I was pulled in to the world of Fashion due to my unique sense of style and eye for trends!

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My primary interest live within music and fashion. However I am also very interested in health & fitness.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

The name OohMarqui came about by a frequent reaction I would receive when walking into a room. People would always say “Ooh Marqui, you look so good” or “Ooh Marqui, I love that outfit. Where did you get it?” So when starting my Instagram I decided to utilize the term that had become such a frequent saying in my life.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

Usually I’ll start with taking the photo on my iPad Pro or iPhone. Next I like to use the Adobe apps, such as Photoshop Express to edit lighting and filters, then Photoshop Mix to combine elements from other photos. Ultimately I like for my images to tell stories, so editing plays a huge role in bringing those tales to life.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I really love Michael_The_III. We became facebook friends a while back due to our shared interest in digital image editing and our mutual love for Beyoncé. His images make me want to continue challenging myself and editing skills.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

I suggest that every guy who loves fashion, utilizes the website Fabrixquare. There are so many amazing pieces that you won’t find in stores. It’s the best way to build an original and creative wardrobe.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I love that as an influencer I am able to share my opinion on various topics to my followers. I think one thing we look for as humans is perspective. The fact that my perspective can help someone make a decision in their life feels very powerful and I enjoy playing that role.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

My top tip is the be real and stray away from seeming corny. People don’t want to feel solicited, they want to feel informed and persuaded by the information. If it seems like it’s only for the sake of sales, viewers take notice.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Quality is everything! Remaining original is extremely important. You have to be original but still showcase a sense of familiarity, in order for viewers to feel connected to you and your brand.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I like that I get to try new products and broaden my horizons as a consumer. Partnering with brands also gives my following more reason to continue respecting my opinion.
