Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Marianne @highlandcherry

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Right now, I am studying to teach English as a foreign language. I have an honours degree in music and have been lucky enough to travel the world with my job for the past 4 years. I have just returned back to Scotland after a 6 month music residency at Walt Disney World and I am currently planning my next adventure!

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I am a tattoo collector and an avid wanderer. I enjoy posting about my life experiences and new travel plans. I occasionally post cover songs or short videos of me playing the guitar.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I was born and raised in the Highlands of Scotland and I am in a band called CherryGrove! (The cherries!)

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I am a big fan of using ColorStory and I often take pictures with my iPhone and edit them on my Mac!

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I enjoy seeing posts from Scottish bloggers and travel bloggers. I follow a lot of tattoo artists as I enjoy seeing work of all kinds on other people! Yoga is a new hobby of mine and I love to watch people doing an awesome flow! Oh, and who doesn’t enjoy seeing a good food pic!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

YOGA!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I was inspired to travel by looking at other peoples profiles. I would love to be able to inspire someone else to take the plunge and just book their next flight somewhere new!

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Suit the product to the Instagrammer! It’s not good when I see a profile promoting something they would never normally post about – it seems very forced!

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

An original photo or caption can be the difference between followers engaging with your post or scrolling past it without a care. If you can see someone blatantly promoting something without any interest or care for the product itself it doesn’t pull anyone in.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I like posting about brands that I personally like. I like promoting them to my followers and I don’t particularly agree with posting about brands you only post about for money. Everyone loves a freebie and why not interest other people in the things you are passionate about!
