Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Mariana @artbymp

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Hi my name is Mariana, i am 17 years old and i recently moved back to portugal to be with my family after living most of my life in England with my mum who passed away in 2014, i run with the help of my best friend my art account (artbymp) which is where i show my art works and share my passion for drawing with the rest of the world. I have one more year before going to university and i intend on working as hard as possible on my art account and hopefully give it the help it needs to grow big.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I love art, always have and always will therefore i tend to only post my art works, my sketches and photography works on instagram. I love following other artists and seeing there work and what inspires them, and in the end that also inspires me to show my art work.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Funny story actually, i wanted to make my art account just about my art, not have me in it in anyway, most of my followers still dont know my sex, my name, my age or anything really, I wanted my art to stand out for itself and speak for itself and not be influenced by who i was, if i were a boy or a girl, if i were black or white, if i were pretty or not, i want it to do as well as possible without being influenced by society’s stupid rules. At the very beginning my art account was called @artnotbyme but then it became confusing to others on whether the art was done by me or others and as it was all mine i decided to change it to artbymp, mp being my name Mariana pimenta.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I mainly use vsco to edit my photos, me and my best friend who also has an art account @personaleyesight share the editing tasks depending on our schedules and our abilities on editing, to be honest she is way better at it than i am.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I have a few actually, i especially love those accounts to arent afraid to share their knowledge and experience with art and instagram, i especially like @ellysmallwood her art is spectacular, i like @design.butler he has some incredible pieces with pointillism.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

In terms of art products (because of my art account and its followers) i would recommend the caran d’ache neocolor ll watersoluble wax pastels, they are absolutely beautiful to work with and if you are a fast working artist like i am you will love them.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I would love to be able to recommend things that id know work to people, i like being helpful and giving a hand to those in need. I am a very up front person, i say what i think and am not scared to be honest with anyone.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Just be yourself, dont let anyone or anything influence you into doing something that doesn’t represent you and your brand. As for campaigns think of something original and funny that would appeal to the audience and remember that less is more.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

The quality is very very important to anyones work, it shows its true colours and shows everyone how good your work is, on instagram the quality of a picture speaks a thousand words, it helps bring new followers and people who admire your work. The originality though is the most important part, being original is what people are looking for, someone who is themselves and doesnt need to copy anyone else in order to be successful.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Id love to partner with brands just because it brings awareness to the people and the brand its a win win situation, people need to know about the new smaller brands who are just as good as the bigger ones and the brands deserved to be shared to the world. What’s the point of having hundreds of followers if your not helping them in any way, might as well give them good advice.
