Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Leila Antakly @ninuninaofficial

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I started my blog ninunina.com before blogs were popular, I wanted to create a platform where I could interview creative people in different fields from all over the world and share their inspiration. I used to produce photo shoots at Vogue and produce documentary films, so I wanted to have my own creative outlet. I’ve lived all over the world but I consider New York home, always. I was recently in Dubai for five years where I managed the model agency Wilhelmina. My goal to raise the standards for models and creatives we represent in the region.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I love all that is creative and inspiring, from music, to art, fashion, design, architecture, absolutely everything. I try to balance out my instagram posts and I love to share things that are new or feature an emerging talent. I try to keep my interview questions simple, but I want my readers to feel something personal about the creative I post about.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

This is an interesting one. In the 70’s there was a comedy about an alien called ” Mork and Mindy” with Robin Williams. The alien way to say hello was ” Nanu Nanu” and I always loved the silly sound of it. So I changed it to Ninu Nina because my platform is my own little galaxy of content and inspiration.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I always use a white frame as a border as I feel it keeps the gallery looking more clean and organized, ( In Shot). I don’t really like to use filters, I want to keep the visuals as natural as possible. I did go through a Huji app phase though.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

Wow there are so many, I really dig @aureta, @love.watts @nowness @oceanic.global @vogueitalia @lostintheforest @livekindly

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

I think instagrammers need to be more careful with branding too much in their posts, people are tired of feeling they are constantly being bombarded by ads all the time. They need to learn to either be more subtle, and perhaps come up with more innovative ways to create engaging content that people want to engage with.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I do not consider myself an influencer, I consider myself someone who interviews people who are interesting influencers, in their different fields, in art, photography, fashion and well all that is creative. The only way I want to influence my audience is for them to feel inspired by the content I am sharing. I would also like to influence people to use social media to raise awareness for causes making an impact in our vulnerable world.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I’ve had to strategize with many luxury brands on running social media campaigns, people want to feel that the content is genuine, so keep it authentic. Keep it engaging, we spend so much time on social media these days we want to feel good not bad with the information we engage with. Right now people crave creating experiences, campaigns should focus on that.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Content needs to be interesting, well written and creative always! Sometimes coming up with original content is difficult, but how to make it your own is the interesting and fun challenge for those who use instagram as a tool for communication. Enjoy taking content and learn to make it yours, by putting your own personal touch whether its in the caption or the visuals ( or both of course).

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I think partnering with brands is fun because its a win win situation when they share a similar vision, mission or are even just compatible in the visual sense. Together they can make a stronger impact on the consumer.
