1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
I am currently working for Public House Management Group, Sydney, Australia, as their Group Bars Manager. Apart of this role is an innovating look at drink creation and how we can better use products and produce.
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
I have a background in Architecture, so taking influence from the way I would design spaces and use colours for purpose, I have now taken that influence into how I present drinks and create content from this. My posts on instagram have a heavy influence from the hospitality industry and based on drink creation.
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
The name came about working behind the bar. Each time I was making cocktails, the boys would voice the fact that the guest was getting ‘cocktailsbykurtis’. It was a statement that rolled off the tongue and ended up sticking around.
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
I haven’t been using apps to edit photos, but heavily into Photoshop and the in-app instagram features! I have heard good things about snapseed & Big lens though!
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
There’s so many! Apartment_bartender_, Saloonbox, thefeedfeed_cocktails, Muddling Memories, liquordotcom, jimmysburgers, onceuponawine, tastingtable, ! All amazing.
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
Try reaching out to other instagrammers that you look up to for shout outs, help with content or even just to give their opinion on how your page could improve. The more help you get from those who have been where you have been, the better you account page will get.
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
It’s amazing to know how far my photos and drink creations have gone. I have had messages from Spain, Japan, Europe, New York, all around the world commenting on content on my page. It’s incredible.
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
Don’t try take over the post with hashtags, links and a specific caption. Consumers will be turned off by this. Allow the content to be created organically and you will see a much greater response from these people.
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
To build a true ‘community’ base, that properly engages in your posts, it has to be of high quality and of interest to them. This often has to do with having original content that isn’t already flooding their feeds.
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
You get an insight into the brand and what the product is that their offering. Often these brands will allow you to try their product so you get a first hand insight into the offering, its great!
