Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Kirrin @sarisandsneakers

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Hi, I am a keen user of Instagram and have aspirations to be a digital influencer, as I believe I come from a unique prespective. I’m currently a teacher and I sell vegan skincare. I live in beach town in Australia and I’m from and Indian background.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

Due to my coastal location, many of my images have a strong beach theme. Traveling is an absolute passion of mine and I have uploaded my holiday images from around the world to share my experiences. Due to my Indian background, I love to include this in my theme where I can. What I believe is unique about me is my cohesion with my Indian and Australian backgrounds. This is where the name sarisandsneakers came from. I love streetwear, and I love my Indian fashion. Why not combine both and travel? 🙂

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I am a proud Australian and Indian. Australia is home to some of the best designers and fashion statements. Indian is the meca for fashion, designers from all of the world seek inspiration there. Moreover, this is my inspiration and what I am constantly surrounded by! I am a hybrid being who embraces all the beautiful aspects of my life 🙂

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I make strong use of my Olympus Share app, Vsco Cam and Afterlight. Occasionally I use Snapseed and Facetune

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

There is a wealth of Instagramers who inspire me. Of note are the Australian/Indian girls Rowi and Rajveer. They know who they are!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Wearing saris and sneakers 🙂

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

Empowering people to try self-expression. Just get out there with you camera and take images of objects, images or situations that inspire you! Be proud of your background, embrace who you are and find the beauty in what surrounds you!

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Authenticity is often synonymous with “keepin it real”. So of we carry on with this theme, brands need to turn to real people with really stories. People don’t want to be sold on a product feature – they want to be sold on YOU as a brand and why you do what you do. What motivates a brand to keep being innovative? What motivates a brand to design? The answer to these questions is a company’s WHY. Why do they exist? Sell me your story, not your products – that is true authenticity for creating life long connection 🙂

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

From a personal perspective, if the image is of quality is poor, I won’t like it, let alone follow the page. Quality is paramount and sets the standard and tone for what you are doing. To be a digital influencer, social media is the frontier. As for original content, I believe the word “original” is elusive and the pursuit of originality alone is a cause already take. All ideas have been explored in some capacity. However, the perspective of your idea, combine with your authenticity and personal story is a potent mix of rapport and connection:)

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Partnerships with brands echo all of the information above. It’s a chance to collaborate with brands you believe are an extension of yourself – beliefs, values, culture, taste, style. It’s a great way to get your name out there and be exposed to like minded people.
