Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Kayla @thebeautifulmelody

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

My name is Kayla and I am the founder and editor behind The Beautiful Melody. The California based blog, The Beautiful Melody, named after the meaning of my Hawaiian middle name. It is my creative outlet where I document and share fashion inspiration and to inspire women and girls of all ages to embrace their own style, take these tips and make them your own, and to have fun!

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My blog mainly focuses on all things fashion, from style tips, upcoming trends, and my favorite sale finds. I also utilize my platform as a lifestyle journal where I share my travel adventures

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

This actually took a lot longer than I imagined. I wanted something original and something that wouldn’t be mistakenly heard or misspelled. After hours of brainstorming and coming up with some really horrible names, the meaning of the Hawaiian middle name popped up in my mind and I knew that that was it.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

My boyfriend laughs at the fact that I have a whole folder on my iPhone dedicated just to camera and photo apps. My two favorite apps is Facetune, for detailing and softness, and Aviary for coloring correcting. When I want to add a small filter on the overall photo, I go to VSCO.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

@rachparcell! Four years ago when I found her page, I knew blogging was something I wanted to try out. Her style is so elegant, very romantic and timeless which I love.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Fashion: ruffled layer sleeves! They are so much fun to wear; I am love with the statement and elegance it brings to an outfit. Non-Fashion: The sea-salted caramel hot cocoa from Starbucks. SO good!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favorite part is meeting all the other influencers out there! It is such a great community. I am having so much fun and it is so fun to receive such positive feedback and read about how someone tried this or that trend because I inspired them.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I only accept campaigns and collaborations if it’s a brand I already go to and love, or if our style matches, which I feel in that sense maintains my authenticity. I also recommend this perspective before someone decides to run a campaign for a brand. Do it if it truly excites you and something you would try if you weren’t an influencer.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

SO important. One of the fun parts about blogging is creating and putting together your own looks. I minored in Photography, so it is really enjoyable to me to come up with different compositions and perspectives when taking detailed photographs of my looks.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Receiving their products and creating it with my style is a lot of fun. 🙂 I also love working with great people and getting to know all the brands that are out there!
