Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Kate Hopkins @katiekate_93

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Hello! I am a college student studying acting in the heart of NYC, but am originally from rural Massachusetts. My passion is for creating. That includes so much, from acting, to singing, to sewing, to writing, to modeling/photographing and beyond!

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My topics of interest range a fair bit. I love beauty, and post a lot about makeup and hair, along with fashion. I also post a lot about art because I’m lucky enough to be photographed by some great artists and cannot wait to feature their work. Also, food! I love food a little too much.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Growing up, my name was Katie, but I hated it. So, when I transferred schools for high school, I started calling myself Kate. Most people still knew me as Katie, though, so I just made it Katiekate and included the 93 because it’s the year I was born.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I’m lucky enough to work with a lot of photographers who edit the photos professionally, but when I take photos myself, I am a big fan of Snapseed and Makeup Plus. Also, I would be nowhere without my Bluetooth shutter! Being able to take my own photos from a distance allows so much more creativity.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I love @explorer.nora ‘s profile. Her stories of travel are so inspiring, as is her relationship with her boyfriend. It’s so cute!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Clip-in hair extensions!! They allow SO MUCH creativity with your hair. Once you figure out how to arrange them, the possibilities for hairstyles are endless. I never braid my hair without them.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

As a model, I get the chance to work with some amazing artists. It’s my absolute pleasure to expose my followers to their work. They deserve all the recognition in the world!

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I’d say that the best tip for brands is to not control too much about the campaign. Allowing the influencer to use their own creativity is going to produce more authentic posts! I maintain authenticity by only endorsing brands or people that I truly believe in.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

My social media is the way a lot of people view me. I want to create a good impression, and the best way to do that is creating quality, original content. Brands can then depend on me to represent them well, because I’m not just representing them, but myself as well.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I like being able to tell my followers about exciting products or brands! I don’t work with companies or people I don’t believe in, so when I endorse something, I REALLY love it, and want other people to enjoy it as well.
