Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Kaila Walton @kailawaltonphotography

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am currently a medic (first aid attendant) for the oilfield in Northern British Columbia. I grew up on a small gulf island (Denman Island) on Vancouver Island, BC. When I was younger I travelled to a few awesome places, due to my dad being a pilot.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I love landscape and lifestyle photography.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I felt it was only logical to define my page as a photography one and to use my name so friends and others can find it easily. Who knows maybe one day I will change it to something cooler.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I don’t really use apps on my phone to edit photos. I almost always use Lightroom! I will upload photos from my camera to Lightroom and then go about editing photos to my taste or style.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

There are quite a few IGers that I love, some of which include @nikdunn, @joelschat, @tomparkr and @chrisburkard. They all inspire me to get outdoors and always look at things differently.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

They’ve gotta try exploring Northern BC! So many hidden gems up here!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

Being able to promote things I believe in to others who share similar interests.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Find someone who you feel will fit your brand or campaign. Someone real, and that sticks to what they like. Maintaining authenticity is easy, always be yourself no matter what.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Quality over quantity is so important in many aspects of life, which includes photographs and other media. Quality photos and original photos will catch peoples eyes and draw them in. Instead of seeing that same old shot of Lake Louise or El Capitan.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Being able to work with brands that I strongly believe in and support.
