Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Julia @juliacomil

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

My name is Julia, I am French and I moved to California in late 2015. My blog, House of Comil is a premium fashion and lifestyle blog inspired by Los Angeles but viewed through the eyes of a French woman.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I enjoy sharing my obsessions for high-quality products, emerging designers, effortless chic styles and latest trends. I am also obsessed with street-arts and appealing visuals. My signature look is effortless chic with a dash of creativity and fun, at the frontier between the Californian cool girl and the Parisian chic.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My instagram is @juliacomil. Julia is my first name and Comil is the contraction of my last name. It is more dynamic. My blog is House of Comil. House in French is a sign of quality products and House also means Community. I want to create a community of aesthetes who love to share and discover new designs.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

My favorite tool to edit pictures is Lightroom: a desktop app. However, I also use a lot of mobile apps. My favorite mobile apps are VSCO (to edit picture I love the filters H1 and H2), Over (to add cool drawings and texts) and Whitagram (to create a frame).

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I love the content of Sincerely Jules, her lifestyle pictures are amazing and never boring. I also love the accounts of Chiara Ferragni, Song of Style and Happily Grey.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Don’t make it about yourself, reach to the community you want to share your experience with.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

To be invited to discover new products and experiences before it is going mainstream.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I am a style blogger, so I always try to add a style element to my picture. I really emphasize on the quality of the picture and originality. I only work with brands I am inspired by and I only post when I am fully satisfied with the results. I create the post to also give me the desire to own a product or to see a place. When I see something beautiful, I want to buy it or to go there. When I am in a store, I always pay attention to the interior design, display and quality of the product, if everything is combined, I will totally be obsessed with it. I try to provide the same feeling with my pictures.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I am a aesthete: I love photography, fashion pictures and arts since I am very young. I love to be inspired and to create mood boards. I use these inspirations and my story to recreate something that is compelling to me.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I have always been very loyal to labels with a high aesthetic. Now I am able to create for these labels and it gives me so much energy and I am very proud because I feel I am part of their success story.
