Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Joyce Ng @jwanting

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

My name is Joyce! And I’m currently studying in the Singapore management University! (SMU)

Fun Fact, guess which course am I majoring in? out of 10 peopled probably only 1 get it right (or sometimes none). I’m taking my accounting degree in SMU. hahah my face gives others the vibe of “no shit man, you’re an accountant?!”

I’ve always love getting myself Involved in the art scenes! For example, singing, dancing or acting! Right now, i am busy with a new Mediacorp Channel 5 drama! It is going to be something so refreshing such that my followers will definitely be surprised by my image. it’s something I’ve never done before. I’m kinda excited! 🙂

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I love exploring photography, fashion, food, dance and films! My Instagram is like an online diary and memories which will never be forgotten. The reason why I’m so active on Instagram is because I want to lock my memory online so that I can constantly view them back in the future! it revolves my personal life!

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

hmm. because my full name is Joyce Ng Wan Ting, so in short, J is the initial for “Joyce” and Wan ting is just my Chinese name back. haha. Aesthetically the name looks pretty pleasing, hence, the Instagram name.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I usually don’t use a lot of photo apps! I’m satisfied with the Instagram filters! most importantly Is to take good lighting pictures! 🙂

occasionally, I used PicsArt. sometimes I felt bloated in pictures, I used a little of Mei Tu Xiu Xiu. (haha gasp)

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

hmm, I follow Eunice Annabel! I think she’s really pretty and fashionable! I also follow StyleNanda! they’ve really pretty models and clothes!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Video editing app!! Vivavideo is so awesome!!!! I started to use it sometimes for my sponsored posts! it’s really easy and cute!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

getting free stuffs!! (HAHA) ok, getting free stuffs and see if those stuffs are really what the blog shops/shops are selling. It’s the exploring of products and the trials and errors of various things. I always love to share good stuff! (genuinely)

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

hmm, I would say giving the full flexibility and having the influencer to call it’s shots most of the time. It’s a test of being geniune of what us, influencers would want to convey to or followers.

how do I maintain authenticity? hmm usually I screen the blogshops/shops’s background before I accept the job.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Always remember that our views are really subjective. what may be good for us may not necessarily be good for the rest. Do check out the shop’s background as well. Also, try to check out other influencers posts on the same product (let’s say), see if the content is somewhat the same, and then you know that it’s sort of “fixed” and required by the advertisers. so you may want to to take these reviews lightly. ultimately, reading up from more neutral parties! just my two cents!

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I get to try out brands which I’ve never worked with before. I get to find out things that are so useful for me which I wouldn’t have if these brands didn’t reach me. And of course, getting across the brand name for these brands and allowing more people to know their name 🙂
