Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Jonathan Seetoh @minijonofficial

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Hi I’m Jonathan from Singapore. I’m a game-design student and after school hours, I’m the owner and crafter of realistic and mouth-watering food accessories and gifts, miniJon!

I enjoy doing different mediums of art, especially polymer clay because the possibilities of things to make are endless!

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I love food and everything food! I post mostly new products that I make, behind-the-scenes like work-in-progress (#wip) of what I’m doing/making and occasionally my store promotions.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I make miniature things and I’ve always wanted to create a brand of my own ever since I was 10, so I thought combining miniature with my name Jonathan was an awesome idea!

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I use both Picasa and Photoshop for lighting, text and some refining works, occasionally Layout if I want to combine some images into a collage.

I’d take a photo by the living room’s window because the natural lighting there is the best. I’d take multiple shots and upload them to my laptop, where I’d choose my favourite and do some editing from there!

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I really admire works from sugarcharmshop and nunus_house because of the level of detail they put into their works. It gives me inspiration every time I look at their works!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Try making a miniature food out of their favourite food with polymer clay!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

Being able to inspire people when you make something and have them telling you how much you have fuelled their passion is just a warm feeling.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Always be yourself no matter what. The way you talk, how you do your photography and such, don’t try to copy someone because you think that the person is famous, is doing it and so should you.

Think about how you stand out being yourself and use that essence to your advantage. For me, I didn’t had a nice background for my photography so I ended up using a brown board. But now, it has became my signature style and it gives off a really warm feeling when people look at my photos, that’s an example of how you can be successful and be original at the same time.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Flowing along with the trend is one thing, but getting inspiration from your day-to-day experiences will create a more creative content. Observing your environment – people, scenery and taking down whatever comes to your mind when you observe can give cool inspirations which later on can be filtered and worked-on when you get back to your desk. 😀

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Helping people to rise is what makes me want to collaborate with people. I enjoy helping people because I can create happiness and awareness, which I think what the world needs most right now.
