Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Joelle Forest @clothesbutnotquite

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I was born and raised in the city of Saskatoon in the province of Saskatchewan in a far away land named Canada. I grew up madly in love with fashion and beauty, worked in retail fashion and also modeled. After reading The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin, I was inspired to start a style blog to share with others what I have learned over the years. Not wanting to take on this huge task alone, I asked my Boston Terrier Zeke and my son James to help me out. On our blog I share fashion trends, great products (and those to avoid), style on a budget, my outfit of the week, and much more. In my spare time I enjoy singing, shopping, reading, photography, travelling, and writing. I now live in Edmonton, Alberta Canada with my husband Tim, my son James, and Zeke.

Five things you might not know about me:

1. I’m a devout Catholic who loves God.

2. I’m a tea addict, drinking at several cups a day.

3. I struggle with health challenges.

4. When something goes wrong my first comment is, “Seriousment?!?”

5. I could never be a vegetarian due to my love of hot wings.

James is my two year old toddler who loves to make us laugh so he has taken over Monday’s Meme. Each Monday, James posts a funny meme that he hopes you like. He loves cars, avocado, bubbles, going to the park, and riding in the car.

Zeke hails from the small town of Beaumont in the province of Alberta. Zeke loves to tell others what not to do on his regular column called Friday’s Faux Paw. His spare time is spent eating, playing fetch, eating, taking naps, eating, and going for walks, eating, and writing.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I’m an avid Outfit Of The Day kind of gal. I mostly post my outfits to inspire other women to look their best on a budget. Sometimes a cute photo of my toddler will be in my feed.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My Instagram name is the name of my blog. I named my blog “Clothes But Not Quite” because it’s while it’s a blog about fashion, it also has memes, lifestyle posts, and advice.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I always use Photoscape to edit my photos. It’s a really simple program that I use from my desktop computer. When photos need extra special editing, I send them to my husband who is a graphic designer. He uses Photoshop.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I am addicted to The Canadian Fashionista as her outfits are great. Her Instagram handle is canadianfashionista1. I also love Bella’s Treasure’s feed as their jewelry is awesome. Their Instagram name is bellas_treasure.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Seriously run, don’t walk and get yourself some Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. Garnier is not endorsing me in any way to write this. I picked up this product at WALMART and I just love it! It’s refreshing and removes any traces of make-up that washing my face misses.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I love the fact that I can help other women to truly make informed decisions about whether or not to buy a product. If I don’t love a product, i don’t endorse it. I want my readers to know that I’m honest and that they can trust me that I won’t lie to them about a product.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Once again, I don’t represent a brand if I don’t love their product. I only write honest reviews.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

If you don’t believe in quality and original content, people will view you as dishonest and get bored. Those two things equal you being unfollowed on social media and you blog’s traffic taking a nosedive. Take the time to find out what moves your readers, then post more of that! And don’t try to copy other bloggers. Find your own voice and just be you!

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I love to be able to try new and exciting products and share them with my readers. I also love meeting new people.
