Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Jessica @jessica_lynna

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Born and bred in the great state of Kentucky, I took a leap of faith and moved to Chicago around four years ago. During this time, I met my now fiancé and started my blog, Jessica Lynna. This blog became a great way for me to connect with like-minded individuals in a new town and has since transitioned into something I truly look forward to working on each and every day.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

If you visit my Insta, you will see a little bit of everything, but mainly fashion and beauty. Occasionally, I will post a picture or two of my fiancé or my two dogs (but seriously, they love having their picture taken!), but for the most part, my Insta is dedicated to me sharing fashion and style.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Nothing cool here…my Instagram name is just my first and middle name

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

Depending on the photo, there are several different apps I use. I am really fond of the Adobe Photoshop app for your phone for more serious edits, such a sharpness or lighting. For basic edits, I will use FaceTune, as it is really user friendly (but also very easy to overdo it!). I’m also a fan of Phonto for adding different fonts to photos, and I’ve used VSCO from time to time as well.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I really love checking out Cara Loren’s Instagram. Like me, she devotes most of her page to fashion and beauty, but has a lot of photos of her children, husband and day to day life as well. It reminds me that just because I like fashion, my Instagram is still a tool to share who I really am and what my life is truly about. It doesn’t hurt that she is drop dead gorgeous and I love her style 🙂

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

I guess this depends on whether we are talking about brands, beauty, food, etc. Regardless, I want my friends to never hesitate to try anything new! To me, that’s how I learn and grow!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I love the feeling of ‘family’ you get from fellow influencers, friends and followers. It’s this awesome community where everyone is rooting for everyone else and has nothing but positive and kind words to say.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Communication, communication, communication! Working with brands can be scary because no one goes into a collaboration hoping to do their worst! Setting appropriate expectations, holding others to accountability and communicating openly and honestly are so important…especially considering a lot of this communication will never even be face to face!

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Being authentic is so important in this business…afterall, there are so many bloggers and influencers who are passionate about the same things you are. But you are unique and have a unique voice to offer the world – and you should! Otherwise, you’ll end up blending in with the masses.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Learning about and sharing new experiences with others who might not know such brands exist. I have been fortunate enough to work with some really great brands, and it is always fun to learn more about the organizations I am representing, as well as share insider tidbits with my followers!
