Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Jen @thesnowchasers

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Hi, I’m Jen from The Snow Chasers. My husband and I are from Gold Coast, Australia and have just returned to Australia after an epic 9 month trip to the US and Canada where we spent most of it snowboarding. We’re always planning our next adventure and will be off to Queenstown, New Zealand in a couple of weeks for a freestyle snowboard camp.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

Our primary topic of interest is snowboarding, we are snow addicts! We are also animal lovers, adventure seekers and fitness/health enthusiasts. We mainly post about our travels, with a focus on the outdoors, beautiful destinations and of course the snow.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

We also have a travel blog which is called The Snow Chasers. We chose that name because it describes us perfectly! We are always chasing our next snow adventure.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

The app which I use for just about every photo is Snapseed. I try not to over edit or use filters to keep the experience to our followers authentic and natural. I use an iPhone which already produces pretty good photos, but I may enhance them slightly to bring out the colours or brighten them if in a dark setting. For landscapes, I sometimes use the HDR function to really bring out all the contours in the picture such as the clouds or water texture.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

So many! lebackpacker, ourcamplife, goneoutdoors are a few.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Finding adventure in life! That means different things to different people. It doesn’t matter what it is, just get out there, be true to yourself and have some fun.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

Sharing things that I love with my followers and building engagement.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Use high quality images and posts. Ditch the sales pitch and just talk about the product from your perspective. Know and love the product and it will translate into your posts.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Quality and original content is super important! We only have a quick moment to grab someone’s attention so it has to be of high quality. Instagram is a different platform to other social media outlets, it’s very much about the visual. Quality and content is also a reflection on your brand, think about how each piece of content represents you.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I love partnering with brands for the mutual benefit that we both receive. It allows both of us to reach new audiences, increase our profile and expand our reach.
