Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Jai Arumugam @jaiarumugam

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Grew up in Chennai which is a capital of Tamilnadu, India. From my childhood days I wanted to be film technician unfortunately didn’t get support from family. Ended up studying hospitality, been a chef for 8 years currently F&B professional in hospitality. Picked up a camera three years ago, right now am a free lancer food photographer based in Abu Dhabi. Though I was a chef it gives me a great edge to work on food Photogràphy.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

Food – history & story of food and people behind food.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

It is not fancy or whimsical name however just creating an identity for myself.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

Lightroom and ON1photosuite! I shoot RAW – after I shoot I import it to Lightroom work on all the necessary adjustments and then import it to ON1 to tweek a bit, export and share.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

Quite a lot people – my inspiration of photography came from Instagram and I learn everyday through Instagram. But my favourites are @_foodstories_ and @humansofny. Wanted to build my account similar to these accounts.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Shooting food Photogràphy

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

You become a part of a business and assisting the business to grow!

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Be yourself and don’t just sell – be a part of the solution. Don’t over promise and under deliver! Rather promise what you will deliver.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Connect it to the purpose – what is that you wanna get out of it and it reciprocates because people need a reason to follow you as well!

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

You become part of it and sense of achievement!
