Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Ishan Riley @ishanriley

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am currently doing many different projects to keep myself busy. I am the type of person to multi-task and as hard as it maybe at times, I enjoy it. My working hours are at Nordstrom Men’s Designer’s Department, Personal Styling, and Visual Merchandising. I am doing many Freelance projects as a Stylist, Model, and Creative Director. I teach fashion styling classes and visual merchandising classes at the Toronto Fashion Academy and I started my own company it’s called "Ishan Riley Styling & Creatives Projects". I am also getting back into music, in particular singing, as it is my passion as well as fashion. I was born and raised in Canada -Scarborough/Toronto. This is the land where it all started for me.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My topics of Interest are fashion styling, cloths, designers, great photography shots of fashion items, music/ singing, etc. What I post the most on Instagram is about me, my journey through fashion, attending fashion shows, behind the scenes photoshoots, some selfies of fashion, my work and creations, my partner and I who is also a great model, my lifestyle and who I am, etc.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Well, my Instagram name didn’t start out as @ishanriley. When I first signed up for Instagram it started as @fashionstar16 and then I wanted people to recognize me and my name for my talent and skills, so I changed it to @ishanriley. I wanted to start branding my name and getting it out there to the right audience. A friend told me to sign up for Instagram because I have a unique style, talents, and skills that should get recognition. I was hesitate at first because there were already so many social media platforms out there, but I decided to give it a try anyways.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

Okay, for photo-editing any pictures, I usually use PS Express aka Photoshop Express and it helps me to create the perfect pictures for Instagram, Facebook, etc. Also, to get that perfect size picture for Instagram, I tend to dabble a little with the Instasize app. They both work wonders.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

Yes, I really like @Asaprocky’s Instagram page because it is really artistic. Each picture has a story to go along with it, it is mixed with different backgrounds, colours, and themes. His page is very captivating.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

One thing that my fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now is living your life to the fullest and don’t let fear conquer your dreams, whatever your dreams are. Always believe in yourself and stay focused on your dreams. I guess that is more of advice, but positive advice that everyone should try out.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favourite part of being an influencer is that you have the opportunity to showcase styles, fashion trends, artistic garment pieces, lifestyle attitude’s, first. And you have the platform to help change the world whether it be on a small or large scale, you have the opportunity to create movements and waves.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Some of my top tips to brands for running campaigns is that you need to create something that is catchy, that will stick, and imprint an everlasting memory for customers. You need a theme that is visually attractive, you could start a new trend or wave for that campaign. Something that everyone/ customers can be apart of. Maintaining authenticity can be challenging at times, but it is always good to do your research on your topic or idea.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Quality and original content is very important because you want to stay true to yourself, be a real person to what you believe in and what your doing. Before I do anything or engage in a project, I always try to do my best, with confidence and being original is what we have. So stay and be true.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

What I like best with partnering with brands is that you get to create new and trendy content for viewers. Sometimes you get a budget to work with, free items/gifts from the campaigns, credit for creation, promotion and advertising. Also, at times there is compensation. Partnering with brands is a really great opportunity to show your worth and what your capable of.
