Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Faith Tan @faithyvanitytable

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am Faith Tan, a beauty blogger from Singapore. Currently juggling a few side hustles that includes content creation, a photography and a tuition business. During my free time, I volunteer on an online counselling platform, or I will attend Girl’s Style Hip Hop dance classes at local dance studios.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

Beauty, Wellness, Travel and Style. I enjoy posting skincare reviews through flatlay photos and makeup tips videos.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

It came from my blog www.faithyvanitytable.blogspot.com. It means Faithy’s Vanity Table, which was meant to showcase and recommend beauty finds on my vanity to my blog readers.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

Lightroom and sometimes Photoshop. I create a few sets of my own Lightroom presets which I regularly use. My editing routine is simple as that, just use my own Lightroom preset – that’s it.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I have a lot of favourite IG accounts but I can’t pinpoint any one instagrammer who inspires me as a person. However I have a few Youtubers that I look up to in terms of beauty content creation and that would be Pony, Meejmuse and Wayne Goss.

6) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

That you get a lot of control over what you put out into your content. You are a creative so the possibilities are endless! I am also blessed to be able to collaborate with many beauty & lifestyle brands and from there get to explore many new products and meet many new likeminded people.

7) What’s your favorite part about StarNgage? Any exciting campaigns that you have joined through StarNgage before?

I like that I can easily browse and select suitable campaigns over the app. Convenient, straightforward and fuss-free. Saves a lot of my time responding to emails asking for quotations and it’s great I can skip the negotiations with clients.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Have a sound Influencer marketing strategy and plan your campaigns early. Research on the influencers before engaging them. If brands want authentic reviews from influencers, give them more time and creative space, allow more flexibility in the campaign brief. For myself, I tend to be selective of the brands I work for. I want to be sure I like the product or service enough to be their ambassador. I always remind myself that I owe it to my audience (i.e readers, followers and supporters) to still be standing here after 5 years in this industry so I need to keep things real for them and not sell myself out.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Content is still king. It’s important to create content that is useful or entertaining. Stay relevant by constantly finding inspo from other creators (but take care not to copy others!) and most importantly, take a break whenever necessary so as to regain fresh perspective to create better content for your audience.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Partnering with brands allows me to tap on their resources to create richer content for my audience, either in the form of a fuller range of products or in cash remuneration. Obviously, both ways contributes and sustains my influencing career!
