Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Eros Erfe @fishmeatdie

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Hi, my name’s Eros and I’m a 20 year old lifestyle blogger currently working in the digital marketing field! Originally from the Philippines, I completed my studies in Malaysia and am currently working in Kuala Lumpur.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I’m very interested in beauty and expression. I first got into skincare because of personal issues: I had terrible skin! I started writing about my skin journey & that eventually progressed into an interest in makeup as well. My Instagram consists mostly of cafe hopping shots, beauty product shots and selfies. I try my best to try different themes and to make my feed aesthetically pleasing.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My Instagram name is actually a play on my Mandarin name. Back in highschool my friends translated my name into Chinese for fun, and Eros became "yu-rou-si", which literally means "fish meat die"! A lot of people ask me about my Instagram username, and I think its a really good conversation started haha.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I use 2 apps on a daily basis: VSCO for filters & Meituxiuxiu for a little selfie tweaking haha. Line Camera is a great combination of those (although it cannot handle super HD images and compresses them). Other photo editing apps I’ve used are Pomelo & PhotoGrid.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

My number 1 idol would have to be Yutaki James (instagram.com/yutakis/). He has a very photogenic face as well as very good photography skills. All his pictures looks so nice! I also like that he has themes.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

One thing I suggest would be to have a "buffer" set of images to post so you never run out of pictures. You can also either make a photo collage or make an extra account to see how your feed will look like overall. I think this is important because when people go to your account, the first thing they will see is your feed.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

The thing I love the most is being asked questions and being able to reply them. A lot of my followers have actually DM-ed me, asking for product recommendation, which products I used, how to do this, that, etc. It gives me a sense of purpose to be able create content on my blog and to communicate with my readers and followers via Instagram.

Another thing I like is that as an influencer, there’s always a "What am I gonna do next" mentality. A lot of influencers are great innovators and share content in so many ways. Although I’m not as big, I’d like to one day be able to reach more people and answer all of their questions.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I think its important to have a connection between a brand and an influencer. This way, the influencer’s post be more natural. As an influencer who has collaborated with a few brands before, I’ve treated each collab (big or small) with the same amount of detail & honesty. It’s easy to take a nice picture and say "this product is good" without actually using the product/service you’re asked to promote, but in the end of the day you yourself will question your own honesty and integrity.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

By coming up with original content that is high in quality, you stand out among other people in your field. Let’s say a hundred people say the same thing, but you provide a different angle & a unique twist. More people will be interested in what you (the non-mainstream) has to say. Also, providing content that only YOU can do will attract several brands/companies to come work with you as well.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I personally like networking! I like it when brands’ PR representatives are nice, and our conversations usually have a very friendly tone. I think maintaining a good relationship with brands is important, and this can be done by having a friendly tone of voice, meeting deadlines and offering quality content.
