1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
I am a single woman living in Los Angeles with my best friend. My website was initially a blog from a time when I was a volunteer in the slums of Brazil. My goal was to simply “be a heart,” bringing compassion and friendship to the poor. Then I moved to Brooklyn and thought about how I could “be a heart” in the bustling city. I continued my blog. Eventually I taught myself calligraphy as a hobby in the evenings. When I moved to Los Angeles, I turned Be A Heart into a design company, which I have been running for the past two years. I believe that beauty will, in a sense, save the world. It is beauty that brings hope and light and try to do this in simple ways. I do a lot of hand lettering and calligraphy and such. I do big events for A-listers and also design logos for small women owned businesses. I am also currently writing a book that will be released next summer.
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
I post about travel, little moments of everyday life, clothing, my design work and favorite supplies. I post inspirational things to get people thinking outside of the ordinary and to remember to have compassion for themselves and others
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
My desire to “be a heart, nothing but a heart.” I heard it in a talk given before moving to Brazil and exclaimed in my being “yes, this is what I will do with my life.”
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
I take the photo with my iphone6s and then generally use the A6 filter in Vsco with a few alterations with exposure and contrast
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
I love to look at @joyarose & @homethrownla
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
Do you mean the hot pink gouache I just got and love? Or do you mean the Vsco app?
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
Getting to tell my followers about really cool new things.
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
Obviously finding people who are in your target audience are perfect. This means that they would actually use the product in real life and can show how it is benefiting them.
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
Quality and original content is the key to success as an influencer, people want to know that they are getting unique content that is relevant in my own life. They want to see what, how and why I am doing something and they’ll follow suit.
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
I’ve built such a solid base of supporters who trust me and my opinions. I love partnering with brands that I believe in and can spread the word of their goodness.
