Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Erana Pound @Thecultureofgrace

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Hi! I live in Wanganui but am originally from Auckland. I’m a stay at home mum to 4 girls as well as being part of the core team that runs Recreate store an online ethical and organic clothing line that employs women in Cambodia. Also a self taught photographer.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

Children, parenting, lifestyle, food and justice issues. Mainly to do with slavery and ethical stuff.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My first daughter’s name is Mila Grace an Mila means culture in Swahili and so I kind of just merged them together to create the culture of grace.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I use either the VSCO app or Lightroom on my computer before exporting them to my phone through Dropbox. So if I use my camera I will upload to Lightroom. I always overall clean up the photo brighten it up and sometimes will use a saved preset I have created myself. I prefer the clean crisp look though as opposed to too filtered. If I’m just taking a photo from my phone I will brighten it up in vsco and occasionally use one of their presets.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

A few of my favourite instagrammers are magnoliakitchen, katieinthekitchen, withthewhittakers, buckandbaa , poprocparties to name very few of my faves ha!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

In terms of products ? Definitely figgy and co natural cleaners. I’m a huge advocate!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I love creating not just beautiful pictures, but I love having a story of my passions weaved through. People know who I am. It’s not just about ‘stuff’. They know my morals and where I stand. And I absolutely love the network of friends you get through this. I’ve met some great people.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I think be very clear what you expect from us. Don’t expect us to know you want 3 mentions and a blog post. I love clearly outlined expectations. I maintain authenticity by turning down opportunities that truly aren’t what I’m about.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Give it your own flare. So much of this work involves being on campaigns with other people and if people follow all of you, they will quickly get bored seeing the same thing with 5 of you! Give it your own twist that includes who you are and something that is in line with you.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Discovering new products and having the opportunity to create!
