Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Dustin Wong @dustinwongphotography

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m a fine-art landscape photographer focusing on scenes that convey the life force of nature. I grew up on the island of O’ahu and I’m currently based out of Seattle.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I aim to create a sense of wonder in each of my pieces. I want to recapture the sense of awe and childhood imagination that often gets abandoned along the way to adulthood. I create art where the viewer is free to wallow in the mysteries and unknown of a beautiful landscape. May my images rejuvenate your spirit, bring you peace, and inspire your imagination.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Nothing special here, just my name and what I do: photography.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

My editing process is fairly involved. I use Adobe Lightroom, and Photoshop to balance light levels, and make selective contrast adjustments. Photoshop offers a lot of power to refine the image. I often use multiple files to produce the final image.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

DanielKordan consistently blows me away with worldwide destinations, and highly refined image processing skill.
Steveschwindt is lessor followed than Daniel, but still consistently produces amazing work featuring unique perspectives and refined processing.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

When my work is well received I get the sense that people are inspired by my work, and that it brings some amount of joy to their life.
To me, that is a positive contribution to this world, and that makes me happy.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I think brands need to align themselves with users who would actually be stoked to use the product. It should also be relevant to the lifestyle that is portrayed by the account.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I’m big on quality that is why it takes me several hours to edit a shot, and if I don’t think its’s good I won’t post it. Originality definitely something that I personally strive for, however in the larger instagram world, I’m not sure if originality is valued as much as “the wow factor”.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I like partnering with brands that I want to see succeed. It feels great to align my goals with another’s.
