1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
I’m from Baltimore, MD. I currently am a photographer based in downtown Baltimore. I travel often to California, Texas, and New York.
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
I mostly post images of my work (i.e. projects, prints, publications) and my travels with an occasional selfie here and there.
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
It’s actually a variation of my name. My full name is Wayne Andrew Koritzer, Jr., and in developing a name for my business, I decided “DK Photographics” sounds a lot better than “WK Photographics”. From there, I developed the business alias “Drew K.”.
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
When it comes to before posting, most of my images are processed via Photoshoot and Lightroom. Then from there, I upload them via my various cloud accounts. Lastly I’ll frame them using Square Instapic with a border and post them. If I do any handheld editing, it’s mostly VSCO.
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
@BrendanForbes ,
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
Getting out to explore and enjoy what the world has in store for them. To not worry about anything stopping them from chasing a dream and that there’s always time to develop it.
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
I’ve got a chance to realize how much my work affects people’s lives and their moods. I used to think that people justo scrolled past my page and posts and paid no regard to it. But, I know now that I’m stepping closer and closer to making a difference and maybe I’ll be able to teach those to learn from my mistakes and triumphs.
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
I prefer to think outside of the box with my posts (literally). I don’t like the thought of being restrained to the one single posted image. I like to build my images together to cooperate and create a look that intrigues the eyes of my viewers and inspires them. As for maintaining authenticity, try to do what feels right and stick to your niche if it’s already working. Sometimes you won’t hit the nail on the head or you won’t always get the responses you want. But, you learn from it and continue to create.
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
For me, quality and original content is ALWAYS a priority. You’ll never see meach sacrifice quality of an image for anything. As for original content, there’s such a fine line nowadays between being “inspired” and literally copying someone. But it is always a focus to stay original, to allow yourself to be inspired and influenced but never to the point where you feel the need to copy or mimic.
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
What I like best is being able to take my abilities and use them to build brands from all over. Knowing that I help brands build their visions to reality and sometimes create the things they could only imagine and make it a reality.
