Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Dorothy Yeung @dskyeung

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am currently a full time university student, and teach autistic children on the side. Modeling is a creative outlet for me, and a passion that I take very seriously. I was born in Hong Kong, and was raised both there and in Canada.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

Instagram is a platform for me to showcase my modeling work. I like to see it as a digital portfolio of my work as an artist.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I took the first letter of my first name and two middle names, then added my last name to it. A lot of people think it’s “d-sky” with random letters attached to it, but it’s meant to be said like “D-S-K-Yeung”!

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

All my photos are edited by the photographer, and I do not further edit them. In that way I can respect the photographer’s intention, and it saves me tons of time by not having to pick a filter!

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I follow Instagrammers who have an aesthetically pleasing page. Although I love a variety of different themes, I seek Instagrammers who can inspire me in terms of wardrobe, photography, and makeup.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Instagram stories! The next best thing since whatever’s the best thing out there.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

It gives me an opportunity to create art and share that with the public. Instagram has allowed me to make my work accessible by anyone- not just people that go to an art gallery.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Be yourself- don’t post for the sake of maintaining a certain image. If you don’t believe in it yourself, your followers won’t either.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Take inspiration from Instagrammers you admire, and make it your own by putting your own spin on it. Copying work is disrespectful for both the original artist and yourself.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

My favourite part about partnering with brands is definitely the fact that I get to meet new people. Everyone has something fresh to bring to the table!
