Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: David Karimzadeh @onpointreview

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am a graphic design student from Great Neck, NY. I started reviewing products a year or so ago and I really enjoyed it. I love the feeling of seeing my reviews published and knowing that others will benefit from it.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I love computers, technology, and photography. As a graphic designer and photographer, my personal Instagram consists of my design works and photographs that I took. I recently started an Instagram for my website(I have a review website) and I want to start posting influential pictures of products I tested.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My Instagram name is my website’s name.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

If the photos were taken in RAW format, I use Adobe Bridge to look through them and Adobe Photoshop and Camera RAW to edit the pictures. Normally I would do color corrections, saturation, contrast, value of black and white in Camera RAW and then open the picture up in Photoshop and do some editing – such as deleting things from the background, or cleaning up the object…

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I like Casey Neistat. He posts really interesting things and he plays with the coolest gadgets.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Virtual reality goggles. I have a Samsung Gear VR and it amazes me. I think virtual reality is going to be the next big thing like the iPod was.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I love the fact that people will look at my posts and it will help them decide whether or not this product is for them. What I care about is knowing that they saw my posts and it helped them with purchasing a product, or even picking a travel destination.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

A brand must maintain the same look everywhere. Use the same colors in all ads, use the same fonts, use the same models(if necessary). These things help the viewers get the point that you are a company and that they’ve seen you before. You want them to say “hey, I saw their ad yesterday”.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

As a photographer, I have to say that quality should 100% be perfect. I hate it when I see a blurry picture or when someone resizes a picture when posting on Instagram and it gets pixelated. Original content is also preferred, but if you are co-creating an ad campaign it’s OK to use someone else’s content. Someone who is looking for a pair of sneakers won’t want to see your ad if it looked similar to Nike. Original content is necessary and should be fitted correctly.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

When partnering with brands you get their knowledge as well. For example – if Lacoste and Macy’s were to create a TV ad together, there will be a large team from Lacoste working on the ad as well as a large team from Macy’s. But if Lacoste were to create their own ad they will not have as many people working in it. I would say in most cases it works best to partner with another brand.
