Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Cristina Santiago @crismeticmua

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m developing my channel in a different way, I’m not the girly that always do makeup. I’m a powered woman, wife and mother of two boys. I’m from Puerto Rico, I lost my job because a back injury, and my disability but that does not stop me. I have my influencer and makeup freelance career, sometimes modeling for makeup brands and I have my own company Crismetic. I developed my own makeup and skin care formulas and sold in the web. I have my garden and do harvesting of plants to creat my productos.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I post full makeup looks, extravaganza makeup or body paint, and things that really are characteristics of my personality because that it’s why they follow me, because of my diversity and different hobbies.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My husband was helping me to fill the states papers for my company. So we was in the front of the computer thinking for almost 1 hour. He was so mad because I don’t like any idea. Suddenly he madly type CRISMETIC. I saw it and just see that new word in a huge building and I instantly love it. He mix Cristina, my name, and the word Cosmetic, so you have Crismetic. And everyone loves it.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

Honestly I don’t change my skin badly and do extra edition. I just used photoshop if the picture was taken with the camera, and just adjust some light, saturation and exposure. If the picture is taken with my iPhone I just uploaded the raw picture, maybe edited the saturation and light in the phone and used instagram filter, just a little percente to define colors or brings light to the image.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

Actually I stopped doing that roll model thing because I feel less creative. I just upload pictures that bring me joy. If brings me joy or make me happy I will share, with PR without makeup.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

I will suggest to reduce looking for inspiration makeups in the internet and try just to imagine and then create.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

It’s so nice that other persons print screen my makeups and store in their cellphone because they used when they have a special dinner or a day out. Also, I’m like an inspiration for other influencers that are starting their own career, and they ask me for advices and coughing. And that is kind of shocking for me but feels great to help others to grow. It’s like a little bit of me for everyone.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Don’t judge only for the amount of followers. I have a lot of good makeups in my account for the last November, and less support. If the company shares a small influencer’s work the others in line will feel attached to that brand hopping the will have the same opportunity. For authenticity I just do me, I will do photos and videos that brings me joy and make me happy. I don’t like to do that treading thing like my boyfriend do my voice over, haul or monthly favorite. A lot of my followers just don’t have too much money to spend in makeup, neither do I, jajajaja. So I’m like a drugstore makeup artist, and this past November was my first time trying spensive makeup brands.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

First, don’t always looks for makeups to copy, just play and enjoy. For me, video trends or makeup trends may help you or kill you. Do a trend that you really identify with, don’t do every trend just hopping to be famous. I’m small at this moment and I’m ok, because I never thought I will be an influencer it just happen. If I became big I will be more than happy because that means more persons will learn about my life, about my disability and how I don’t lay down in a bed because of pain. I know I will inspire a lot of persons to persuit their “dreams”, persuit their future. We have a lot of influencer inspiring others to be confidente, but I do more than that. I kick my fans up, and push them to their real path in life.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

For me it’s a voice, for an instant I’m a voice of a lot of customers. Also, I love companies that only work with honest reviews, and my truly experience. I love when companies let me be creative when they invite me to be makeup artist in a video or event.
